I need some help!!!!!!!! My husband and I are thinking of moving down to central Florida. Maybe the Leesburg or Sanford areas. We were down in September and looked at the Groveland and Clermont areas and I didn't like them. I am from Pensacola Fl. and now live in Indianapolis In. I want to be close to Disney and shopping. I would like any info you could give me about the area.

Is it nice in Leesburg/Sanford? (ie:nice houses/not dirty)

Are the shopping malls nice? (ie:good shops/clean/well kept/not scared to go to)

Driving distance to Disney/downtown Orlando is it okay? (ie:good roads/highways)

What is the best part of central Florida? (ie: good neighborhoods/not alot of crime)

If you could pick one part of central Florida to live in where would it be? And why?

P.S. We visited Citrus County(Homosassa Spings and Inverness) and really liked it. It was just a little far from disney and a major shopping mall. Once they get the highway complete it will probably be great.

Any help from those of you down in the area would be great.

:sohappy:

In central FL

Sanford is a great area with a nice mall. About an hour and a half away from Disney unless of course you are driving during rush hour and then it will take longer. Probably about 45 minutes to Downtown.
Wekiva/Altamonte Springs is probably my favorite area. Close to the Altamonte Mall which is very large. I lived there for about three years. It's about an hour away from Disney and 15 minutes to Downtown.
Clermont is is actually a nice area. I lived there for about a year. It really doesn't have much right now, but my Husband grew up in Wekiva/Altamonte Springs and told me that Clermont reminded him of that area when he first moved there 28 years ago. I do know there is a Super Target planned to be put in there soon and it's about 20 minutes from Disney and about 30 minutes from downtown Orlando.
Ocoee is also being built up right now. I live there right now and it takes me 25 minutes to get to Disney (I work there) and about 15-20 minutes to Downtown. There's the West Oaks Mall which is quite small. It's a 30 minute drive to the Altamonte Mall or The Fashion Square Mall; a 45 minute drive to the Florida Mall (LOTS of tourists) and the Millenia Mall (VERY upscale).
Waterford Lakes is another nice area out near UCF. I lived there for about a year. It takes about 45 minutes to get to Disney and about 10-15 to get Downtown. There's easy access to the Fashion Square Mall, Seminole Town Center Mall (Sanford), The Florida Mall and Millenia Mall. They have the first Super Target built in Florida along with many other stores and a Movie theater.

I hope this helps a little bit. Good Luck!

Well! The Husband and I are definitely moving to Florida. We are going to be living in Sanford!!!!!!!! We are thinking of buliding a house in Deltona. I saw some online. I liked Renar Homes. Anyone heard of them? Are they good? We will be getting an apartment first to check out the area. Any nice apartments in Sanford?

It's so exciting and scary at the same time. I'm leaving my family here in Indy, but they said they'ed move down to some nice warm part of Florida soon. I can't wait to get out of this cold and into the warm sun. It's snowing here right now. I love being close to my famliy, but now I can go to disney world whenever I want.:sohappy::hammer:

Samirella, Thanks for all the info!!!!:D

FYI...

This is a great place to visit for WDW, but you might be better off finding somewhere else for information about living conditions in Florida.

There are some people from Florida here, but a majority of visitors don't. Those that do live in Florida don't necessarily know of the area you are looking at.

I'm just trying to help you out to find some better information than what one or two people on here might say.

I was just trying to get info from people on the boards because i have been on these boards for a while(June 01 i may not post much but i read them almost everyday) and everyone is very helpful and nice. I like the supportive comments everyone has for other members when they are going thru stuff and I just wanted to share with everyone and get info from people who have similar interest as I do. Its hard to get info about a place when you're not down there and I have looked for other info on the net, but I thought people who are on the boards that lived there would be nice and give good info. I did post it in the correct area and not in something about disney! I thought this was a place to share with other people who loved disney as much as I do. Even if its not about disney. Isn't that why there is a Chit Chat section?
