Movies At The Contemporary Resort?

Thinking back to my first trips to WDW in the late 1970's, I vaguely remember that they showed Disney movies at the Contemporary Resort. Does anyone else remember this, or is my memory deceiving me?

Not at the Contemporary, although they still show Disney cartoons in the lobby by the entrance to the arcade and counter service restaurant. The only resort that still shows Disney movies is Fort Wilderness. Every night (weather permitting) they have a Chip n' Dale Campfire sing-a-long and then show a Disney movie. It's loads of fun and best of all, it's free! I am in my late 30's and have been going to the campfire since I was 4! Great fun and memories! :)

Yes, back in the day they did show Disney movies. My husband has some sort of paper from the Contemporary given to guests that stayed there and it said they would be showing "Apple Dumpling Gang" at the hotel and one other movie that I can't remember off hand. He says he remembers this and really liked going down to watch them with his brother.

I remember!!!

Mom and dad would take me and my brother down and get us situated and then take off to parts unknown! :) I remember thinking we were so cool because we could go to the movies by ourselves, and they were probably so happy to have alone time! (We were probably 9 & 6 at the time. Things were different back then!)

One time we saw Snowball Express and the film broke just as the raccoon is about to jump out of the stove, cupboard, fridge. (Can't remember!)

I loved the movie theater and I loved the shooting gallery!

That sounds like a great amount of fun. Too bad they got rid of it, just imagine, going to the parks, its gets hot or rainy, and heading back to the hotel for the new Pirates movie....

One can dream....

for sure,as kids in the early seventies, you went so many places alone and no one thought twice about it.Now,forget it,you can't leave your child anywhere unless you are right there on top of them.It saddens me that kids have to grow up so fast.Thats why I love wdw, because at least its a little fantasy you can give your children.

Yep. As others have said, you are right. The theaters were in the back corner of the then Fiesta Fun Center (which, till recently became the Food and Fun center).
