Most "Romantic" Value Resort

Hey all, Long time lurker, first time poster, I need some opinions about a trip I'm planning for this August...What is, in your opinion, the most romantic Value resort? I know this is an odd question, but I'm thinking of proposing, but money is very tight (ah the joys of being a beginning teacher) and I want a resort that won't necessarily spoil the romantic mood of the trip. Thanks for all your help!

I don't know that any of the value resorts are particularly romantic. But my boyfriend is taking me in May, and we're planning on staying at All Star Movies, not necessarily for romantic value but theres a lot of classic movie icons that we love there. I'm sure the fact that you're proposing will make up all the romantic-ness for your trip, you get to wear the "just engaged" pins and everything :D. Besides, wouldn't it be better so save up and stay at a more romantic hotel for your honeymoon?

We had a room in the 70's facing away from the giant icons in the courtyard and towards the lake... it felt very secluded and it was quiet. The thick vegetation and the water reminded me of staying at Riverside.

I would pick POP, honestly. They have rooms off to the sides that may take 3 more minutes to walk to, but are pretty much away from most of the resort. Also, I know a few of the CMs there, and the ones I know would be happy to help with a proposal! PM me if you like, I can call them and ask if they would help with a surprise.

Pop Century has a lake setting the others don't.
But I'd pick All Star Music as the most romantic.
The music theme, along with the toned down decorations make it my choice.

Good luck.

At All Star Music there is a fountain in the middle of the resort that is surrounded by iron fencing and it has rose bushes all around it. There are benches there. It is located by the Jazz buildings. The water feature helps mask the noise from the pools if you are looking for a resort spot to propose. Now, another suggestion is have you considered waiting to book and searching a discout that may make a moderate more affordable like Port Orleans French Quarter? Sometimes you can get room discounts of 25 to 30% that may make a moderate more affordable for you . I would suggest checking that out, I understand that is a really nice resort and quiet. Consider that you are going in August there will be a lot of children at all the resorts, including Pop. The last time we stayed at Pop in the beginning of Dec 2008 it was over-run with ill behaved children and their equally ill behaved parents. We haven't gone back there since. Now, also consider that the Art of Animation resort will be open or partially opened by then so that may take a great deal of the families over to that resort and lighten up on the other values. They also tend to put tour groups at the value resorts.

What type of discounts would lower the price of a moderate? AAA? Disney Visa? We're looking to go at the end of august, if that means anything

There are usually discounts available at that time. Free dining is often available and room discounts usually are as well. You might want to consider checking with one of the Kingdom Konsultant travel agents and get them to help you out. They always make sure you have the best discount and that might help you stay in a much more romantic moderate resort.

There is a free dining promotion around then that could significantly reduce your food bill even though the cost of the accommodations at a Moderate are slightly more costly than a Value. You'd get the regular dining plan for free so you could eat at some nice places. And many of the Mods have romantic settings, depending on your preference. Personally, I would say that Caribbean Beach Resort with its beach theme and steel drum music is very romantic. The hubby and I enjoyed relaxing in a hammock together on the "beach" there.

If you're looking for romantic at a value - I'd suggest POP just because of the lake. And if you're doing the walking trails around the resort you will find some quiet and secluded spaces.

For spots to propose - you could always take her to another resort to do this. Then you could even tie it in w/when we come back here in a few years we can stay here...
