What would you recommend for a romantic meal on the ddp? We want a nice night, get dressed up, stroll around a resort after? We don't mind using 2credits! We are not picky , and do like seafood, steak etc. We don't enjoy sushi and would prefer to stay away from "exotic" food for this meal. It's dbfs first visit and neither of us have eaten at a Disney signature restaurant (or at a resort restaurant). Thanks :)

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Cat Cora's in Disney's Boardwalk Resort in November of 2010. Great restaurant! I think in general the Boardwalk is a romantic place in the evening. Having a great meal in a cozy restaurant and taking a stroll afterwards along the boardwalk would be a nice night. There are also great restaurants in DD. Not all on dining plan.

We will see

So I have never went with a signifigant other, mainly because i went with parents as a kid, and just been with friends since.
Good News!!! My wife and I will be going next April, for her it will be the first time since she was 13. I went last year with my buddy.

She has allready told me she wants to eat at the new B&B restaurant, and I think we are also going to eat at Morocco and Coral Reef. Maybe somewhere else, I am letting her take the reigns on this one. My guess is Coral Reef will be great. I am talking her into California Grill watching the fireworks, we will see.

pretty subjective... unfortunately I am pretty new to the disney dining world (always stayed offsite). But what about something like the Chefs Table at Victoria and Alberts? Pretty high end from what I hear

A romantic meal at WDW is kind of hard, because just about everywhere will have too many kids for a romantic atmosphere. The stroll around a resort afterwards is a good idea though. Putting that together, a few recommendations:

1. Narcoossee -- Good food, and the surf & turf is a good use of a dual credit. You can watch the MK fireworks from the verandah, and then stroll around GF and around towards Poly (although the DVC construction might get in the way).

2. Jiko -- This might violate your avoiding exotic food depending on your defintion of exotic. But there are far less kids here than at other places, and lighting is low, creating a more adult atmosphere. And AKL is great to walk around, both inside and out, at night.

3. Wolfgang Puck -- Food is very good, and afterwards, a walk clockwise all the way around the lake is very nice, particularly if you end at marketplace for a sundae at Ghirardeli (I know that would make two desserts in one night, and I don't care :p)

4. Yachtsman Steakhouse -- My wife and I had a great meal there, and the walk around the Boardwalk afterwards is very nice and offers the chance for him to win you a stuffed animal. :)

5. California Grill -- You'll see mixed reviews on the food here. My wife and I really enjoy it, but many others don't. The view of the MK fireworks is great from the observation deck. This would be higher on my list if not for the hordes of little kids that are usually here because of the fireworks view and location near MK. The kids problem is exacerbated because a meal here is typically a fairly leisurely pace, and I've heard many a child wailing and whining. If you do go here, get the cheese plate for dessert -- it's great!

Not on the dining plan, though. If it was, it'd be about 12 credits each, I think!

For my wife and I it has been Citricos at the Grand Floridian Resort. It uses 2 credits and still cost a bit but it was worth every penny to us. We got a special menu that we was able to keep because when we booked it we let them know it was our anniversary meal. The menu is nothing exotic just delicious. Here is a link to the dinner menu: http://www.wdwmagic.com/Dining/Citricos/Menus/22Feb2011-Citricos-dinner-menu.htm. But one of the best meals we have ever had at Disney for sure.

I would not consider CG "romantic" even if you are there to watch Wishes. The restaurant is pretty loud and tables are really right on top of eachother. It does become more "romantic" after Wishes when the bulk of the crowd leaves. It is a very different atmosphere. There are more "romantic" restaurants on property.

Coral Reef may be one of the most un-romantic restaurants on property. It is very loud and chaotic inside. If you are UN-lucky enough to get a table next to the aquarium your meal may include things like, kids putting their hands all over your table and standing over you, shouting while you have food at your table. This is one restaurant that the dining plans, IMO, completely ruined. It used to be a nice quiet fantastic meal, but now it is a shell of what it used to be.

OP mentioned that they were looking to use TS credits. V&A's does not take credits and the Chef's Table is something that most really have to budget for (I believe it runs about $300 per person).

With all that being said, there is still hope. As the PP mentioned, romance is pretty subjective and is what you make of it. If to you a nice quiet meal with great service and fantastic food is what you would consider romantic, Citricos at GF is tops on my list as far as restaurants on the dining plan go. We have had nothing but great experiences there. What we did on our last trip was went on a night where MSEP was at 8 and Wishes was at 9. We watched both from the second level of the MSUSA train station. After Wishes ended we got out of the park really fast and decided to take the boat over to GF (the monorail is usually faster). We had a 9:50 ADR and made it in plenty of time. We were one of the last ones to leave the restaurant. We were never rushed to leave and one of the chefs came out and talked with us for a while while we had our coffee and dessert (he had came out earlier in the night to go over the menu for my fiancee since she has a peanut/treenut allergy). It was an all around fantastic night.

Another good option for a more romantic meal on the DDP is Artist Point over at WL. Good atmosphere, good service and very good food.

Since you don't want exotic food, you might want to stay away from Jiko at AKL. However the food is excellent and the service has always been great. Jiko would also give you a chance to walk around AKL which can be quite romantic itself. Bistro de Paris might also be a bit exotic for you, but now that it takes DDP I feel obligated to mention it. We always found this one to be quite romantic and the food and service have been great. If you take one of the last ADRs of the night, when your meal is done it will give you a chance to take a beautiful walk through EPCOT with little to no people (don't worry, the buses still run). I hope the DDP doesn't do to the Bistro what it did to Coral Reef, but only time will tell.

If you are looking for something that is more on the "date night" side might I suggest Flying Fish on the Boardwalk. While the restaurant is not really "romantic", it is tied for tops as far as food goes on the DDP (along with Citricos). Walking around the Boardwalk after, watching some of the performers is really nice and you can follow up your walk with a late night round of mini-golf at Fantasia Gardens, which is about a 5 minute walk from the Boardwalk. It really makes for a great "date night" if that is what you are more interested in.

Wave - (an outside-the-box option, but its dark, quiet).......... But you can't go wrong at either Narcooses or Citricos either.

Flying fish sounds like a great option! We can stroll around the boardwalk, walk back to Epcot for illuminations. Or narcoosse's... Hmmm

Narcoossee's is not really near the top of the list when it comes to romance (and, quite frankly, is at the bottom of our list as far as Signatures go). It can get pretty loud in there and the food is pretty disappointing, so much so that there are non-Signatures that are better, IMO.

If you want to go to FF and make it back in time to get a spot for IllumiNations, you need an ADR on the pretty early side. You have to figure that the meal is going to take 90 minutes or so, plus the time it takes to walk to EC and get a decent spot. I wouldn't take an ADR any earlier than 6, if you don't plan on watching any performers and head right back to EC after your meal. Also, FF usually has it's last ADR at 9:30, which might be hard to make it to if you choose to watch IllumiNations and then head over for dinner. You could see some of the higher fireworks of IllumiNations from the Boardwalk.

STAY away from Citricos. In 4 years of Disney vacations this was the WORST service we've ever encountered and for 2 credits of mmeeehhhh food. We were so excited for this dinner and were so let down. I've NEVER complained about service at Disney and we're not uppedy eaters. We love the dining plan and enjoy trying different restaurants and experiences, some being good, some being bad. This one like I said biggest dissapointment bar none...so sad! :(
