More WDW Holiday Changes...

Thank god they are gone! That was incredibly annoying last year, I didn't like it at all.
I agree. It was shrill, and painful to listen to on the ears and you could barely understand it. And it went on WAY too long. I just wanted to get back to the lights and music.

The mods seriously need to consider changing the headlines of some of these threads. This really has nothing to do with cutbacks at WDW.

As for the OP, I hope they didn't cut the P&F Christmas Songs (Christmas Is starting Now was a great tune) from the show, but the talking wasn't understandable and really didn't fit IMO. I love P&B, but I don't mind it being gone. The emphasis should be on Christmas, rather than a single show or movie.

Phineas and Ferb were cut from the lights this year because they currently don't have a new product to promote. Last year it was done to promote their Christmas DVD.

I'm a big fan of the show, but I hardly see their removal from the display as a cutback. It was charming, but nothing more than product placement. Not to mention, now that they have their own meet and greet nearby, they're still getting publicity. Last year at this time, that did not exist.

We've lost so much...

MVMCP=Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
MNSSHP=Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

At Epcot:
We haven't gone to Epcot for Christmas, since the Arches were dropped:wave:
...previously we went every year to enjoy the tree lighting ceremony/show (while enjoying some hot cocoa) followed by the lighting of the awesome arches...
poof, bye bye...with nothing to show for it (does the tree show still exist?)
At the Magic Kingdom:
Yes, we gained the beautiful Castle lights and they are awesome...
and we still have the special MVMCP fireworks (maybe a decade old, only for MVMCPers)
and we still have the MVMCP Christmas parade,
which otherwise runs for regular guests a week before 'til a week after Xmas
but we've lost sooo much that used to made it so extra special.
We used to attend 1-3 MVMCPs every year just to see:
Mickey's Night Before Christmas :wave:then
the Xmas show at the Diamond Horseshoe :wave:then
(and the Halloween show and riverboat show during MNSSHP)
The Country Bear Christmas Special :wave:then
Belle telling the Beauty and the Beast Christmas story (if we had time)
then dance parties, the fireworks, the late parade...ending the night with...
the wonderful Castle Christmas show (w/Goofy Santa singing "Must be Santa...")
...with the toy soldiers, dancing reindeer, candy-cane dancers, Santa, etc...
and (during MVMCP) enjoy the free themed (shaped) cookies and cocoa
and (during MVMCP) line up for your free family Christmas photo(s)
...funny how ticket prices didn't go down $10 when they eliminated these?
This would easily fill up an evening with special Christmas themed entertainment.
MVMCP is simply no longer worth it now that nearly EVERYTHING is gone.
ALL THE CHRISTMAS SHOWS HAVE BEEN DROPPED for MVMCP and everyday guests as well:wave:
The Castle show is now simply the same daily show with a small Xmas reference at the end.
The only show that remains is the 'new' Xmas dance party at the new Tomorrowland 'stage' SIC
MVMCP: Is it really worth $60 for 5 hours at the Magic Kingdom for free cocoa and cookies and to get to see the (MVMCP only) Xmas Fireworks and the Christmas parade early? The Snow falling on Main Street is nothing special since it falls every night during the Osborne Lights and during Christmastime at the Magic Kingdom. We've skipped this for 2 years now.
MNSSHP: Is still somewhat worthwhile for the free candy, the unique parade and fireworks (not seen elsewhere), but we always thought it ignorant to close the "Enchanted" Tiki Room during this event?!? Normally we attended this 1-3 times a year, last year once (on 10/31), this year nil.
At Disney's Hollywood Studios:
This year, I have to admit, the Osborne Lights are significantly better:sohappy:, with the all encompassing dancing lights, the 21,000 RGB lights capable of 16M programmable colors that make up the light canopy over San Fran Street, the overall extra pop and sparkle that the 100% LED lights deliver and the animations in the windows they are surely a sight to behold...and represent the ONLY holiday improvement at Walt Disney World that I am aware of (and I'm not even sure Disney knows about it since there was no mention in the Mickey Monitor about it:confused:)

JeffH the Christmas Castle show actually still performs during MVMCP and the week before and after Christmas, Celebrate the Season right? Still there.

That's good to hear...

That's good, although I probably won't be able to see it until after Xmas this year...
After not seeing it listed in the Mickey Monitor and hearing about the little Xmas change to the regular/daily show, I figured it was gone...like everything else:(

Yeah, there have been some significant improvements to the Osborne lights this year, and I haven't noticed anything out of the PR/marketing group in terms of promoting it. These are the types of improvements that should be regularly expected from WDW, and not necessarily promoted as "new additions" and such, but knowing the way WDW marketing grabs onto anything it can to promote as new or improved (whether deserved or not...usually not) I'm surprised they haven't mentioned it. Almost like the Studios put together the budget with this themselves and the tech crew did what they could to improve the show just for the sake of making it better.
