The Jack Sparrow AA + storyline is intended for HK Disneyland (if it isn't already in place).

According to the article, he'd be included in a revamp at both DL and WDw.

When it finally is refurb time I would love to see the load and unload areas combined and add another scene to the end. This would require a ride up the lift hill, which currently does not have enough head room and may not be able to carry the wieght of a loaded boat. Time will tell.

can anyone else back this rumor up? if this is true, would both pirates really be closed at the same time? we will be there in april and would really hate to miss one of our favorite attractions.

If Walt were to come back he would beat these ppl. Why change POTC? I love me some Jack Sparrow but I really don't want him in this ride.

well from what i have gathered from others on this board.. the ships in both attractions are rusted to ruin and are on the verge of falling appart. A new ship is needed.. so why not make it one that is more recognizable to the genearal public. by adding the black pearl it will add an additional element of excitment to the ride.. and besides.. the black pearl is creapy and goes along with the theme of the dead pirates at the begining. It's an old attraction and it needs to be umphed up. as long as they stay true to Walts vision. which the disney land Pirates was the last project he was involved in.. he died during construction.

Yeah, he never ever created ties between his movies and parks...

What happened to the rumor that the movie based ride would only happen at night? Supposedly the same ride would take place during the day, but at night, the boats would be re routed into the back stage areas of the ride where new scenes would be built based off of the movie. They can't go and change the thing entirely! This one of THE original Walt Disney creations...

They'll need to install lap-bars to keep me from jumping "ship" and attacking Mr. Sparrow and trying to take him home with me!! He's soooooooooo dreamy :D :D :D :D

We'll begin by telling you about one of the worst kept secrets on the Internet, the upcoming rehab of Pirates of the Caribbean. When the ride does finally reopen in time for summer crowds, Disneyland visitors will find Jack Sparrow has moved in and tweaked the storyline of the 39-year-old ride to align more with the second and third sequels of the blockbuster original movie. Read on only if you want to learn of the surprises Walt Disney Imagineering currently has planned for both the Disneyland and Walt Disney World versions of the ride.

I thought the big POTC change was the scarier, nighttime changeover. I hadn't heard about wholesale changes to the DL version, so either I totally missed these rumors or these rumors weren't the worst kept secrets on the net.

It would be very upsetting if I didn't get a chance to go to DL before this change takes place, if it does. I would be heartbroken if I never got to experience the original POTC. But I guess I wouldn't complain too much since I'll probably only get to go to DLR once or twice in my lifetime anyways.

Why not add a new POTC attraction to the Studios and/or California Adventure's Hollywood section? And yes I know it's not as easy as saying "Bam put a new attaction here". I'm just trying to think of something because These rumors seem pretty drastic to me. They usually don't mess with a good thing too often.

But I suppose I should be grateful they're not adding the elf and his girlfriend as well... :hurl:

We should all be very sad since Miss Swann will not be making her way into the attractions (who cares about Will  ).... :lookaroun

To me this is devastating. PotC is a classic, and one of the few rides that should never be messed with. I love the movie but I don't think it should be inserted into the attraction. What if the sequels aren't as good as the first? I really feel that this developement is a huge mistake and can only hope that it doesn't come to fruition.

My guess is that if the general public doesn't like it, it can always be changed back. But from the stand point of the general public, I cannot see a downside. They do not care one iota about preserving Walt's vision or anything like that. They just wonder why none of the characters from the movie are actually in the ride.

If nothing else, PotC needs a refurb anyway. I'll stay positive until as long as they don't add Stitch.

To be quite honest with you, I'm sure Walt wouldn't be to happy with the condition that PotC is currently in. I don't know Walt personally(obviously) but from what I have read about him he was an advocate of change and improving his attractions, the only attraction he wanted to go untouched was CoP. Honestly, I think our PotC needs something, anything, because it really does need some work IMO.

Hurray! Someone finally said it. From all I have seen and read about Walt have pointed to him being all for change. Everything needs change or it becomes stagnent. As for COP it is for PROGRESS. It also need to change the last scene to show progress every few years. There are so many things I love at WDW that I never want to see changed, but to keep people interested they must have new things to see or it just gets plain old boring. I am not sure what will happen with POtC, but I will want to get back there to see it once it is done and that is the goal of Disney.

I'd have to agree that really 99.9% of us on this forum probably have no idea how Walt would have felt about this. But, just given the information we've been told about Walt I'd like to think he'd be in support of updating a very dated attraction even if it was one of his classics.

From interviews I've read to those closest to Walt he seemed like he was changing things all the time, was a stickler for perfection, and would want the most modern/complete experience for his guests as possible, not something that was 30+ year's old to simply keep existing because he had a hand in it's creation.

But, like has been stated before I never knew Walt so this is just an educated guess. :)

I think it's almsot a forgone conclusion that alot of the "classics" we still have today would have been gutted or totally redone by Walt if he was still around.

The original Disneyland went through alot of ride changes in the beginning. When he died, management was frozen, not sure what to do.

You know Walt LOVED change and progress, but how do you mess with an icons work? It was easier to not change anything & they still have that mentality somewhat today.

I'm sure D-Troops would be picking up baseball bats and attacking the CoP AA's if Walt wanted them to.
