Monsters, Inc. ?

I haven't read these message boards since my trip over a year ago, so I apologize if this has been discussed before. But I recently saw the movie "Monsters, Inc." and thought how it could be a great attraction. The entire plant would be the waiting area, show, etc, and the "door chase" would be a great ride. Has this ever been brought up or suggested before? It seems as though it would fit nicely in the Animal Kingdom.

Thank You

I thought the same thing when I saw it in the theaters! :)
So far, I've heard no word about turning it into an attraction here, though I think I might have heard something about Paris... :zipit:

I posted an idea like this on the boards a few months ago. I think a B&M Hanging Coaster would be perfect. Theme the sides of the cars to look like hanging doors and have animatronics inside the ride. Maybe have Mike and Sully wizzing by you while holding onto a door. One of the biggest problems with this idea is the fact that Disney will probably never build a B&M coaster.

A B&M "hanging coaster" doesn't exist. The company makes inverted and flying coasters. An inverted coaster would be like the Dueling Dragons at Islands of Adventure, and Montu at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. A flying coaster would be like Superman: Ultimate Flight at Six Flags over Georgia. A "hanging" coaster that you mentioned generally refers to suspended coasters. Examples of those would be Big, Bad Wolf at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and Iron Dragon at Cedar Point. Both of those coasters are made by the company Arrow.

As for Disney not building a B&M, that is probably correct. However, that doesn't mean that a suspended coaster cannot appear in WDW. Over at Islands of Adventure they have the Pteranodon Flyers (primarily designed by the company Caripro). That style of coaster (suspended single rail) would be perfect for a coaster ride based on Monsters, Inc. There doesn't have to be much of a height requirement, so anybody can ride. The coaster would be much cheaper to build than a large coaster, and the individual cars can be incredibly themed and detailed. Your suggestion of the animatronics and hanging door cars would work well with this style of coaster.

As for building the ride in Animal Kingdom, I don't think so. Animal Kingdom does need rides, but Monsters, Inc just isn't the right type of theming for the park. The ride would be better off in the Magic Kingdom or Disney-MGM Studios.

The problem with the single rail coaster at
IOA is its EXTREMELY low capacity, I do not see disney building an attraction that has the low of a capacity, but i would love to see a monsters inc ride.

How can it be low capacity?? The B&M's at IOA seat four across compared to Disneys two across on their Vekoma coasters. It would seem like IOA would be dispatching just as many people if not more than Disney.

There is a dinosaur ride that can hold about 300 per hour! The lines get terribly long there! (I heard of 2 and a half hours!)

Actually, i heard that the capacity is 150 (half that of Dumbo)

ANd whoever said about it seating four across, i believe you're talking about Dueling Dragons which does not have a low capacity...

Of course I'm referring to Dueling Dragons and also to the Hulk. They are the only B&M coasters at IOA to be referring to.

I think that it would be neet to have maybe two tracks racing eachother, like dueling. one could be mike and sully and the other could be randall. then again, does it have to be a coaster? is it possible to pull this off as a simulator? screens surrounding you and all. in the movie the doors don't go upside down, at least i think they don't. anyway, i think, though, that for great theming it would have to be indoors.
