I do hope they have a lot of fun touches in the area and Monsters in the windows and on balcony's and stuff - that they have life in the land

Also, the movie basically lived on monster themed puns, so I would assume that is in the cards for some of the signage.

I think it’s clear what @Casper Gutman means. There’s obviously a difference between recreating interesting environments or famous landmarks and recreating an everyday urban setting. His point is a fair one. That said, @James Alucobond is right in noting that the area as it currently exists is already pretty everyday in appearance, so it’s not like there’ll be a major shift in the aesthetic sensibility of the land.

Harryhausen's NEEDS to have an animatronic of the octopus chef. It doesn't even have to be a fancy A100.

That said, if they DID use an A100, the flailing arm thing they all do would actually work well for this character.

I don’t think much of this land works without AA monsters. Screens are okay in windows as you’re walking, but I hope they learned from SWGE that a city needs citizens. As you suggest, many could be simple animated figures, though.

"Original 3", what the heck is that. I grew (70's and 80's) up in New Haven and frankly speaking Modern was small at the time, it was all about the big 2 and you really were a Pepe's or Sally's person. It was a huge debate between the 2. I can honestly not recall Modern entering the discussion until much later in my life (ie the 90's and 2000's). Modern today is just as a big as the other 2 in NH.

We just got back from WDW and had 'our last' Mama Melrose meal. It was good and would recommend it to all. I am sad to hear it is closing.

I grew up in the 90s, so to me Modern was already on that pedestal with Sally's and Pepe's. It's almost as old as them as well and was my family's favorite in New Haven (my grandmother grew up next to Pepe's yet preferred Modern). Today, there are descendants of the three New Haven pizzerias all over the area (I even have one near me in Cheshire that is uneven but can be better than Pepe's on a good day) that I consider the 3 New Haven places the originals. It doesn't really matter anyway, because I grew up in West Haven and thus consider Zuppardi's the best lol.

Needless to say, when I go to Florida I like something different, so I'm excited for the change to Harryhausen's. I'm a fan of his work as I'm sure many Imagineers are and so hopefully the restaurant can be both Monsters themed and have a ton of nods to Ray Harryhausen's work.

Universal did an amazing job with Isle of Bern. Animatronic dragons everywhere you look. This land definitely needs that animated component to work well.

The Quattro Formaggi pizza is their star, but last time I went one friend got the manicotti and one got an Alfredo! Both were pretty tasty, coming from an Italian from New York
