Has anyone recently eaten at Monsieur Paul since the change over from the excellent Bistro de Paris? Hope the standards are the same!

Hi there! I asked my friend who just was there in April. This is what he wrote:

yes, we did eat at monsieur paul's and liked it a lot.
the food was very good, and the atmosphere was quieter than downstairs. the menu was definitely more refined, and didn't have some of the 'typical' french dishes that they have downstairs, i.e., escargots, coq au vin, etc. but i'm pretty sure you can look at the menus online to get an idea of what they offer.

we couldn't see the fireworks as well from upstairs unless you were at a table right next to the window, but it was still nice to be able to look out the window at illuminations.

was it worth 2 TS meals versus 1 downstairs? maybe not, but it was fun to do once. next time i'll probably pick chefs de france, and then use my extra TS somewhere else!

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate the links and passing on the feedback and it has helped me to decide to move my existing reservation over to Les Chef de France which seems to pick up much more favourable reviews. And is a cheaper alternative to Monsieur Paul. I did consider Coral Reef too but again reviews are a bit hit and miss. The way I'm looking at this trip to Disney is that I'm spending a lot of money on table service. While you have to accept you are not going to get vaule for money. You do want to at least get your money's worth when it comes to quality. Les Chef de France has a much better reputation.

I assume you guys and girls agree?

Has anyone eaten there that can compare it to Bistro de Paris? Bistro was our favorite adults only restaurant, and I am hoping Monsieur Paul will take its place for us.

We also loved Bistro - until about three years ago when it started to spiral down in quality (we guessed typical Meal Plan Cost Cutting Syndrome). It had really done a good job of tanking BEFORE the name change: reviews here, and on the Disney Food Blog, tend to indicate that the "big change" hasn't done much for the place.

Yes I noticed it was not as good the last time we went as the first. I have an ADR in October so I guess I will give it a try, I won't hope for too much though.

I have a reservation for it on my next trip. The food reviews suggest it is up to the standard of the previous incarnation (that is, how it was before the changeover, not how it was a few years ago).

No restaurant should have kids running around in it. Ever. Not even Mel's Diner.

^^ This right here^^

Going back like 5 years ago it was an amazing fine dining restaurant for adults. It has changed over the past few years in cheapening of the menu which drew in more loud families which made the restaurant more like any other TS restaurant in WDW. Basically noisy and crowded. I have not been there since it went through the refurb and renaming, but I don't expect it to recover to what it once was.
