Monoraril Shut Down after pilot shocked

First let me say I'm glad everyone is OK. I heard about this when I woke up this morning and decided to let it go since it's really not news, at least to me. Shocks like this happen from time to time, I know I came into contact with a light switch once that had an issue. I personally feel that maybe Disney overreacted on this but at the same time of they don't people will scream that they're not doing enough.

Anyway have a question here, maybe it's involving this. Last night well after MK closed I went to take the monorail to epcot at around 12:30 ish and the epcot line was closed then and it wasn't related to this, but yet the express beam was still running. Highly unusual for them to close the epcot line while still running express. I figure the heat may have gotten the best of some equipment or something but what do I know lol. Anybody know what happened there? They were running buses to epcot loaded with people...

Technical issue developed on Monorail Green which required towing. The beam was taken out of service because the time it would have taken Green to be towed, the beam would have been shutting down anyway.

The shocking issue was really a minor event. The driver was back to work that night.

So what caused the shock? I know the beacon switch is a purely mechanical switch that just rotate a transparent plastic ball with the colors on it around the light, or was it the actual on/off breaker?

So that's why pilots don't set their beacons anymore...

Actually, a lot of the pilots who've been around for a decent length of time gave up on it after an idiot former area manager decided to arbitrarily change the color assignments around after they'd been the same way since Walt Disney World opened. Showed a total lack of respect for tradition, all so that the 'leader' could make their mark and pretend they'd made some useful change.

My wife and kids were meeting me at the MK on Saturday. They arrived around 5:30pm and the monorail was closed. When we left the park around 9:30pm, the monorail was still closed. The line for the Ferry must have been extremely long around park closing, as the park was fairly busy that evening.

No, it was down at 5:30 due to the electrical problem. It was down at 9:30 because of technical problems with one of the trains which caused them to have to switch the train to a different track to compensate for the problem. It was not down the entire time in between.

The park actually wasn't that busy, but with 2 monorail shut downs in a relatively close period of time, we were unable to keep up. We had 3 Ferries operating and taking boats at 9pm, plus had 4 boats on the gold route and still had to pull a cruiser to clear the gold dock.

What gets me is the people who come around swearing, insisting we need more boats, or questioning CMs on how long it takes to take the Ferry. It's the only option, so quit wasting time and get in line! Furthermore having more boats isn't going to do any good. It's not the transit time that takes forever, it's people who get on a boat and take forever to fold strollers, find a seat, and keep their kids in line, then block everyone trying to get off the boat when they unfold the stoller at their destination.

Nah, sounds like it was the switch in the ceiling of the cab to change the color of the beacon that identifies the beam the train is operating on.

Doesn't one of these breakers (see photo below) actually control the power to the beam indicator light itself?

Regardless, I'm surprised someone hasn't been shocked by one of these switches before. They're in a metal panel, in a carpeted room that's surrounded by humidity and condensation. A winning combination.
