Monorails not operating this morning (5/13)

They have been having so many problems lately. They need to get it together or work on a better maintenance plan.

It's not maintenance. Its the entire team in the morning. None of them care about opening on time and worry more about their coffee.

After 2009, efficiency standards were virtually eliminated from the expectations of drivers to keep low lap times.

I remember once I was waiting at the MK in the morning for about a half an hour, the train I was on was holding because the one in front of it was in the Contemporary. I happened to know the Cast Member working the platform who finally called the Contemporary to see what was wrong. The Cast Member at the Contemporary platform said the driver had gone downstairs to get coffee and hadn't returned yet.

I will say though that the monorails do have lots of issues lately and yes they are maintenance related.

All this complaining about them doing some maintenance.

You guys about them not doing maintenance, then when they are DOING maintenance you some more.

Would you rather the monorail break down while you are on in stranded high in the air or have the monorail down for maintenance?

They are only so many hours in a day....sheeesh

Probably the only real solution at this point is to close the whole system for about six months and do a real thorough refurbishment. Disney has let them go too far with too little maintenance.

There's no real credible proof of this, that I'm aware of or that closing them for this long would fix anything. However, I would agree, it seems like interruptions of service seem to be occurring more frequently. It may be that the trains are starting to show their age. The current fleet has been in use constantly since 1989. Also, I believe they are still running just 11 trains, with the 12th still being prepared to go back into service, unless that's already happened and I just missed it.

For the record, I was there on Friday and the Express Monorail was not running, but the Resort Monorail was. They were directing guests to the resort monorail while the ferry was not at the dock. Not sure about the monorail to Epcot on that morning, I didn't take notice.

The trains were parked on the express line at each of the resort stops, lights on, and drivers out on the platform. Don't know what the issue was or exactly what time it was up and running again... but it was up for sure by 5 p.m. when we exited the park.

We rode the monorail (Express, Resort, and Epcot) several times on our trip last week and had no trouble. Never stopped out on the lines for more than 30 seconds, and most trips we didn't stop at all. Whether it was just good timing all week or what, other than Friday morning, we experienced no issues at all with the monorail.
