Monorail sets and accessories

I'm sure alot of us here already have them or at least want one. I was wondering what the reason was that alot of the accessories have vanished from the stores. I recently bought the Contemporary set on our September trip to add to my growing collection. I also have several of the monorails (two bought at WDW and one on ebay) as well as the sign and Main Street station sets (both bought on ebay).

Too bad WDW can't bring alot of this stuff back for the 40th? Any thoughts?

For what the stuff sells for on EBAY you would think that there is a market for it. I would buy some of the accessories if Disney ever starts selling them again.

I haven't really been noticing but I know they used to sell a lot of it back in the early 2000s. I bought mine around 2003 I think, as well as California Screamin and more stuff than I should have. If you look at my profile pic, thats the whole setup as it was in my living room years ago but has since been dismantled. Now they just sit in a box somewhere. Lost the instructions for cali screamin so it'll be extremely difficult to reconstruct if I ever feel like doing that again. But I would think they would sell them everywhere they could, I kinda noticed the lack on monorail toys etc in the stores a few years back, I guess it's gotten worse?

That's because a lot of the sellers of those items on ebay are CMs. They buy them for $20 at Christmas time using their 50% off privilage then turn around and mark them up to $50 or more on ebay. A friend of mine baught 10 of the Contemporary accessories last year to do just that. She listed them as "rare and extinct" even though they still sell them.

I don't know why they discontinued all of the accessories except for the Contemporary, Castle and possibly Spaceship Earth (though it may be gone too by now) but it sucks! The Haunted Mansion and Train Station and such were very cool but there's no way I can pay ebay prices for them.

We only got our Monorail last year and I picked up the Contemporary too but it makes me sad I can't get the rest without paying exorbitant prices. I don't know why Disney stopped selling them, but I wish they'd reconsider.

Saw it last night. Still in luck. :animwink:

Ah cool. It seems very hit-and-miss. I hadn't seen it for awhile so I wasn't sure if it was another causality. You used to see the Tree of Life and such too but haven't seen that one for years now. I presume it must have gone away like all the other cool items. :(

We saw both the tree of life and space ship earth all over the place, and we were there less than a week ago. However we did hit about every disney shop on property. (Got hooked on the muppets vinylmation craze :D)

I know alot of people do that, which isn't being honest. Now they can say the sign or train station sets are rare or extinct because you can't get them in the parks anymore. I got mine on ebay. I'll have some pics of my Christmas set-up for this year posted soon since we'll be getting to start setting up shortly.

Which shop did you see the Tree of Life? I did see Spaceship Earth all over the place on our September trip but was unfortunate with the tree.

People want waaaayyy too much for the stuff on ebay. I have Walt's personal train - The Caroline Pacific in HO scale - bought that set on Amazon.com. Would also like the WDW railroad in HO scale but there always seems to be some kind of guy that's willing to outbid everyone by boosting up the price sooo sky-high (how those people can afford it, idk unless they're a CEO of a company) and the "Buy It Now" stores also list them super high. I just gave up on it.

Perhaps since a majority of us miss the accessories, perhaps if we write WDW about it, they may consider?

Yeah I'd LOVE to get the resort signs but jeez...I just can't spend like $100 on a couple pieces of plastic. It's just WAY outside my budget. Sucks.

I don't know if writing Disney would help but I guess it wouldn't hurt?

We saw the tree at a couple of the AK shops, but the one I know for sure is Chester and Hesters .... I think that is the shop that Dinosaur leads you into after you exit, right?

I think writing them about it wouldn't hurt. Perhaps if a bunch of us would do so, maybe they may consider? :veryconfu
