Jacksonville recently hired a seasoned transportation expert (he was responsible for the rapid growth of other cities' transit systems) for the job of CEO of its transit organization that runs the city's Skyway Express automated monorail system. Under his leadership, the city plans on extending the system a quarter mile to a series of mixed used developments (including an entertainment district) in the Brooklyn/Riverside area. The city currently owns the land for the rights of way for such an extension. The quarter mile extension and its new station combined will cost $20 million. This number is the conclusion of a study. A recent application for a Federal grant breaks down this figure dollar for dollar.
If anyone can measure the distance from The Land to the boat dock north of the DHS main gate (cutting through the EPCOT resorts area), we might be able to calculate a fairly accurate estimate on what a DHS monorail extension of the EPCOT line might cost.
