Monkees singer Davy Jones dies in Florida at 66

INDIANTOWN, Fla. — Actor and musician Davy Jones, who gained fame with the 1960s band The Monkees, has died in Florida. He was 66.
A representative for Jones confirmed that he died this morning of a heart attack in Indiantown, Fla.
Jones rose to fame in 1965 when he joined The Monkees, a British popular rock group formed for a television show. Jones sang lead vocals on songs like "I Wanna Be Free" and "Daydream Believer."
Jones was born Dec. 30, 1945, in Manchester, England.
Among other endeavors, he was also known to Virginians for a period of time as a spokesman for Colonial Downs.

A friend sent me this. I loved the music, but I have to say I still associated the name "Davy Jones" with Marcia Brady the most!
In fact I have not too long ago read her (Maureen McCormick's) autobiography, wherein she mentioned how nice he was (and how starstruck she and Eve Plumb -- Jan -- were over him!).
