Mobile waitlist availability

Does every restaurant which participates in this open their waitlists daily? I have a trip the first week in April and have been checking the day of dining walkup availability on MDE, which always seems to show that 90-95% of places state the list is unavailable due to high demand. Mind you, I'm checking right at park open from the app here in my hometown just to see what the likelihood is of getting on the waitlist in case I don't get an ADR and am also checking throughout the day as well. I'm curious if there is an ideal time in which your chances are high? I'm particularly interested in SFDI for dinner and B and C for lunch. Also-is Teppan Edo doing any kind of walkups for dinner, even though they're not listed?

We had reservations for lunch at Teppan Edo last week. They did turn folks away who didn’t have reservations.

In my experience last week none of those waitlists were even open at any restaurant, it was however fairly easy to score off time reservations the day before.

In my experience it has been easiest to get a walk-up wait list at restaurant opening (4pm or 5pm) or later in the evening towards the end of the night (but be prepared to wait.) But definitely keep checking for ADRs as people cancel and change plans all the time!

Where is the wait-list section in the MDE app?
it's a bit convoluted- go into the app, tap the plus sign, go to check dining, enter your party, then tap the current date. then tap now for time. you'll see a list of places that offer walkups and whether the list is currently open.

This might not be true for all restaurants but when I stayed at the Contemporary the Wave was listing no waitlist all day but when I checked closer to the end of dinner (8pm) it opened up to 5 min wait. I would check the list live after peak dining hours. They won't necessarily open it so early in the day before seeing how much space they have after reservations etc.
