Mobile Check in - Room Assignment

Hello All,
Staying at OKW on 7/18/21 and we completed the on line check in and made room reservation requests. We were hoping to see our room choice way in advance so we could look it up. Dose anyone know at what point they will assign the room? We would like to know sooner rather then later to see if our request was fulfilled.
Much Thanks in advance,
Rick

On the day of check-in.

And being OKW, if you want to check on your request you should go to the front desk first. They are very unlikely to move you once you enter the room, unless there’s an issue with the room itself obviously.

Thank you, Well as soon as we see the room number populate on the app we know where it is in relation to where we want to be. I guess right at that point we can just go to the front desk. I was just hoping that we could find out at least a few days in advance so we can look into it...

They will text it to you on arrival day.

You will receive the room number text ONLY when the room is ready for you to enter it and not a moment sooner. It might not be until official check in time (4 pm for OKW) and could be later than that.

How early can I check into my room after I make my reservation? If I do online check in months in advance and then my son's girlfriend decides she doesn't want to go or something happens and she can't go how easy would it still be to take her off the reservation? Would that early check in online factor into that at all? Or am I just overthinking it?

Completely overthinking.
Online check in has nothing to do with removing a guest from the reservation.

Hello All,
What is the deal with Room Requests? Can we request a specific room or range of rooms? If we can, what is the best strategy to getting the room we want?

You need to call Disney to have specific room requests added to your reservation. Options to choose from when using online check-in are very generic (near lobby, ground floor, near elevator).

Some may suggest using Touring Plans room request fax feature.

However the pandemic has thrown a wrench into requesting specific rooms, as not every resort is back to 100% capacity.

There are more general room requests during online check in like near transportation, ground floor etc.
If you want to be more specific than the options that are provided then you'll want to call to request but also understand its not at all guaranteed.
There very very limited options during online check in for my Polynesian stay (This was done a while ago so I may check to see if they've added more now that the resort will be reopening later this month) and my one request was top floor so I called it in.

You'll need to call it in and have them note it on the reservation, and you need to give them an idea of WHY you want a particular set of rooms, if you give a specific room or range, the room assigner won't understand why you are asking for that - but if you say you want to be on a high floor not facing the pool as you want a quiet room, then they will be better able to assign it.

If you only say I want Room 7603 and nothing else, if that room is unavailable, they will have no idea how to help you.

I got extremely specific with our room request when I booked our trip even though I know it's not guaranteed. I know that the online check-in is very generalized with its requests as the other poster said. Something like near transportation, ground floor, etc. If you want to get very specific like I did you need to call Disney reservations and have them pull your reservation up and note it on the account. For example, I requested rooms 7902 and 7903 in the Love Bug building at All Stars Movies. I also had them note that if those rooms are not available to please give us a top floor close to the elevators. That's something you can't do with online check-in.

Above all else, know the difference between adjoining and connecting rooms.

If you want a doer between two of the rooms you need to ask for connecting rooms. Adjoining just means nearby.

Also on each reservation ask them to add a “travelling with” note and quote the other reservation numbers.

Finally remember they are only requests. But call in at least 3 weeks ahead to maximise your chances.

Keep in mind they are dealing with a tremendous number of rooms. There are 2,880 rooms at Pop Century alone. I would not be surprised if much of the room assignment process is automated, and I doubt they have the time to spend a lot of effort on requests that are overly specific.
The fewer things you request the more likely you are to get what you ask for. For example don't ask for connecting rooms AND high floor AND near the elevator AND near the pool. And if you do truly need connecting rooms as we did for our family group of 7 make sure you ask them to add the "traveling with" note to BOTH room reservations. Be prepared for your room to not to be available later in the day if the rooms that meet your request are not vacated early that day. One of ours did not show up on MDE until 6:00 p.m.

Exactly. Weve booked trips making very specific notes on our reservation. Had our TA notify Disney on her end. Called a week before arriving and then the day before to again see that the request was there.... only to arrive on check in day and be told it wasnt avilable.

We have made very general room requests ourselves in the past and we have rarely ever had the room requests met. Still, it doesn't hurt to ask.
