Decide on what your "must do" items are ahead of time so you plan your time accordingly.
4PM has been the entry time for this event, will you begin then or earlier?
FastPast + reservations as of last year cut off at 6PM.
1st or second parade, the Second parade has less of a crowd.
Rare character meet and greets ?
Exactly how much candy do you want to take home.
Do you want to use time in the park to eat a meal ?

Just hijacking this a little, Sorry OP!

We’ve been before and going again this year. The last time we didn’t bother with the Meet and greets but this time the kids are old enough to want to meet some of the characters that are available on a party night...

Question is, what time do the party specific meet and greets start?

Thanks :)

Networkpro Thank you. Not interested in planning meet and greets, if we come across one, then ok! Cany, a little if ant. Going for atmosphere and entertainment. We will be in costume, going as Potato Head girls. As far as eating, probably quick service. We are not getting park hoppers, but that could change. Maybe a late lunch reservation. Planning on an afternoon rest at pool. Thank you

The majority begin at 7pm when the party officially starts, but there are two exceptions: Jack and Sally usually start around 5 pm and the 7 Dwarves at 6:30 (but you need to have your wrist bands on already or they wont let you in the line)

Officially at 7pm, but the lines start before then, especially for the in demand characters, like dwarfs, Nightmare before Christmas etc.

Thought you may say that! Specifically Jack and the dwarves so we’d better get in line! Thanks :)

Moana started meeting around 5:45 last Fall..we went in Sept '17. She was the only character we waited in line for. Because those 5 hours go quick, we didn't want to "waist" our time standing in line. We did a lot of standing around to get a good spot for the stage show, fireworks, and parade, so waiting in long lines to meet characters wasn't something we felt was worth our time. We did meet Lotso (where Buzz generally meets) at around 11:30, and there were maybe 3-4 people in line.

We personally loved the stage show, fireworks, and parade, and would do it again just for those 3 things alone. Like I said, those 5 hours went by very quick...we didn't even go to the west half of the park. Now that we've done it once, we'll have a better idea of what we want to try to accomplish when we go back this year.

We are going on the 31st for the first time (busiest night of the year, we know, but it is the only day we will be there).

Our plan of action is to try and utilize FPs from 4-6pm. We're hoping for at least Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain. From there our priorities are the parade, stage show, and fireworks. We aren't really interested in meet and greets or the trick or treating. We also decided the the entertainment we want the best view for is the parade, so that's the one we plan to stake out early.

A cast member told us that Liberty Square was a great spot to view the parade, because it was significantly less crowded than Main Street. We took her advice, and staked out a spot up against the rope, right in front of Liberty square Market (next to the Hall of Presidents). It was a perfect spot, because we could see them coming straight towards us, then would turn right in front of us and head towards the hub in front of the castle.

Definitely enter the park as early as you can with the party ticket. Like others have said, it was 4pm last time we went. That helped us mess a lot of the party crowd trying to enter the park around 6pm. We've been twice. The first time was in 2015 and we entered MK at 4pm. Not many crowds entering MK and no lines to get wristbands. The second time we went, in 2016, we went to the party at 6pm after dinner at Sanaa (not the best planning on my part but the Halloween party was something of a last minute decision lol), and got stuck in horrible lines at MK. We got through security no problem, long waits at turnstiles, and then the poor CM's handing out party wristbands were almost mobbed from all sides because there was no order or lines. Miss this mess if at all possible. Also, keep track of the time so that you don't miss the parade or fireworks. We missed the fireworks in 2016 because we didn't realize what time it was:(

As others have said, get there no later than 4PM. Personally I wouldn't waste a lot of time with rides, especially if you want to do the two big meet and greets. I would suggest eating before the party officially starts. We have done BOG.

Jack and Sally are over in Liberty Square, people start lining up usually around 4:30, they start greeting usually at 5. The Seven Dwarfs are in Storybook, they start meeting between 6 and 6:30.

There are many characters you don't normally see and even the ones you can see on a non party day will be dressed in their Halloween finest.

We only do one or two meet and greets a party and sometimes none.

There are two showings of the greatest parade ever, if you don't care for parades I think you will still love this one. I tell people see the first one because if you fall in love with it you can see the second. The second does tend to have a smaller crowd but I will warn you, last year the second parade was packed for both nights we attended and it was the third week in September.

Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular is an awesome stage show and worth seeing. if you choose to do the second parade, it is right after Hallo Wishes and just before the second Boo-Too-You parade. If you plan it right you can watch all three with very little walking. But is also performed twice a night.

There are other things like dance party's and meet-n-greets like Captain Jack and such but the above is the main attractions.

The only ride that is not to be missed would be of course, The Haunted Mansion. Madam Carlotts and Rinata are very entertaining, we even had a run in with them on the streets and they were very engaging. They are a lot of fun. There is also a meet-n-greet with the hitchhiking ghosts from the ride here.

We love this party and are planning to go again in the end of September. I use to go to these parties so that I would have less wait to get on the rides, now I go to this one and the Christmas one for the added holiday attractions.

We're off to the party in August (we're over from the UK so thought we'd take advantage). It's Tues 28th, what do people think the crowd will be like?

My advice? Use the 1st parade to ride the rides you wanted but weren't able to get FP+ for earlier. As others have said, the crowds thin out by the 2nd parade, usually after the fireworks.

If you enter MK before the party officially starts at 7PM, make sure to get that wrist band. CMs will be circulating through the crowd, asking for people to show their wrist bands. Plus, you won't be able to purchase any of the special party merchandise without a CM seeing that band. Also get one of the flyers handed out - it shows the times of the parades, fireworks, M&Gs, candy & special treats distributions, etc. Plus it's a great souvenir. If you are going to visit the spots handing out candy, bring your own bag. The plastic bags they give you are really too small, as the CMs give you a big handful of candy. And you can go through the same spot more than once.

And most importantly, familiarize yourself with the rules regarding costumes. It would be disappointing if you were refused entrance because your costume violated them. The MNSSHP page on the Disney website lists the rules.

We've done the Halloween party every year for the past 4 years - sometimes twice in one year! It's so much fun, seeing everyone in costume, especially the kids.

Hi

ive done several parties over the years here is my advice;

- you can enter the park (and in costume) from 4pm but the party officially begins at 7

- ride some rides between 4 and 7 to save time later

- if you plan on meeting a main draw character like jack skellington or the dwarves consider lining up for them around 6:00-6:30 this will ensure you meet them in goodtime and be off enjoying the party by 7:30 latest

-if your a party of adults consider going to the 2nd parade - it usually a little easier crowd level wise and a great way to end off the night

- don't neglect the dance parties, great ways to grab selfies quickly with harder to find characters sometimes

-if you follow my advice about characters, once you have done the line head over to the HOCUS POCUS show its great and first show last year was 8pm so gives you 30mins preshow to get a decent seat. (some people do wait from 7 or earlier however)

- SORCERERS of the magic kingdom card, don't forget your party card! grab it from the firehouse on your way in or out of the park

- we trick or treat during the first parade usually easier to navigate.

- take time to enjoy the The Dapper Cadaver Dans in frontierland singings some spooky Disney classics

My advice is to check the weather report early and often. One or more showings of the parade and stage show are often cancelled due to weather. If these are a priority to you (and they should be because they are great!) and there is rain in the area, watch the earlier parade/show even though they are more crowded. It would be a shame to get rained out of the later showing after skipping the earlier one.
