MNSSHP: Have Guests Ever Been Denied / Kicked-Out Because Costumes Are Too Real?

Offensive costumes are also refused service. If you come dressed as a condom, you will probably not get in. It is just not tasteful for the other guests in the park.

Last I checked, Disney sells yellow and clear condom costumes at virtually every gift shop and retail kiosk in the parks. So you can't tell me that they're not allowed. These are even incorporated into other products like pins, Vinylmation, and antenna toppers.

I can only think Disney did that because it isn't out of the realm of probability that anyone can mistake him as a Disney CM acting as Santa Claus, but what made it an issue was Disney claimed ownership of the "character."
That is sad yet funny at the same time. Sorta reminds me of Gore's "I invented the internet" comment.
Disney in no way owns the image of Santa Claus. If this poor chap is walking around the park trying to enjoy himself, and kids keep approaching thinking he's Santa, he's kind-hearted for stopping and playing along. But if he came dressed as Santa for the sole purpose of drawing crowds for autographs, etc, then of course Disney has grounds to ask him to stop.

I know an individual who resembles Santa very highly, even in street clothes. He's a mall Santa in Nov/Dec, but his white hair & beard do not go away the rest of the year...so naturally he fits the part. Even in street clothes he's stopped quite frequently by families w/ small children. And being the type of person he is, he's not going to brush them off: "Go away kid...I'm not Santa Claus!".

There's a difference between playing along for children's sake, and intentionally forming a mini "meet & greet" session. I highly doubt this Santa was doing the latter.

I would think that Disney probably could reasonably argue that a person who wears a costume too close to a Disney character in that context could pose a safety hazard to guests. Disney spends a great deal of time and money on the logistics of character greetings. To have a handful of unsanctioned characters roaming around their grounds could be seen as a liability. A cast member is trained to interact with guests, a guest is not. If a guest dressed as a Disney character is misconstrued as an actual CM, and an interaction leads to an incident, Disney could face a real problem. Even if a guest was following instructions by not signing autographs, what if they didn't tell a little kid why? What would that kid and their parents think? What if that costumed guest wasn't paying attention and knocked over or bumped a kid trying to get their autograph? The parent could argue that Disney's admittance of that guest caused the incident.

Now, I'm not saying that I don't think people should be allowed in or not while wearing really authentic costumes. I honestly love seeing what people come up with. But when I take my own opinions out of the equation, I can see how this could be a big problem for Disney, and I could easily understand why they would want to avoid just this sort of thing.

Halloween aside, should Disney also ban, for example, men who wear black shoes, black pants, a tucked-in white button down shirt, and pin lanyard because there are a lot of management-level CMs wandering the MK dressed the same way?

Last I checked, there are no prohibitions against dressing in business casual for the parks, which is often the case with more mature [older] guests.

Fosse76 got it wrong.

A. The man was wearing a shirt that said "I am Santa Clause" and telling kids that he is Santa Clause.
B. The man was actually encouraging the behavior from other guests (see A).
C. The man was asked to stop but refused.
D. The man was escorted off property.
E. The man continues to say that Disney told him to "alter his appearance. Yeah, take off the shirt that said "I am Santa Clause".
F. Disney never, ever, said that they own the rights to Santa Clause.

"...I once saw two women, one dressed as Cinderella and another as the Fairy Godmother, on just a regular park day, no party, sitting on benches in Fantasyland..."
On a non party day? 2 WOMEN dressed that way, I would have to think their lights were on but no one was home! Now I could see them dressed that way for an event or ocassion, but not just everyday! In this case I think 'Cinderella' and 'Godmother' wanted some attention or Ciny has been using something really strong to scrucb those floors and Godmother must have got into the wine instead of the Pixie dust cabinet! :ROFLOL:
