First night = lots of fun! Also bare in mind this is my first MNSSHP so sorry to sound stupid about things.

Lots (and lots) of smart-looking CMs around out front for the 8:50pm Villain Mix & Mingle. Thoroughly enjoyed it though, I thought the choreography was top notch and the guy who played Doctor Facilier was great. I was sadly under the impression it was going to be a lengthy stage show but to no avail.

Hallowishes was also great. I remember how awesome the perimeter fireworks last summer for Night-tastic so it was cool to see them in use again. Everyone (everyone!) was sitting down right by the castle which made a real change from the norm.

The lines for Jack Sparrow and the Seven Dwarves were ridiculous so sadly we missed out on those. Practically no queues for attractions, about two minutes max for HM.

Saw the 626 Dance Party, seeing Stitch struggle in his prisoner costume looked a right pain. The YMCA just wasn't happening for him.

Candy was good, nice range of stuff. Enjoyed the M & Ms :p

Anyone else there tonight care to add anything?

What did you go as? We went as a family of pirates. Saw a group of pins, Mario and Peach and a Jedi Mickey a few highlights. Someone dressed as Perry too, fair play to the effort gone into that!

:)

This was my first MNSSHP too and I absolutely loved it! It was so much fun and definitely completely different to the usual MK.

It was not even close to being as busy as I expected, in fact it felt like extra magic hours, with pretty much every ride being walk on. Hallowishes was incredible. Mickey's Boo to You Parade was also incredible and rapidly climbed the ladder to my favourite parade. The Haunted Mansion section was the absolute highlight, the grave diggers were just amazing and transformed the whole character of the ride onto the street. Clever.

Overall, amazing. Would love to be able to make it a tradition each year!

Glad you had fun. I am going next Tuesday. Here are the questions many people are going to want to know....

Did they let ticket holders in after 4PM?
How crowded overall was it?
Were CMs insuring non-ticket holders were exited from the park?
How does the new merchandise look?

I can answer a couple of those.

It wasn't very crowded at all. All attractions we pretty much walked straight onto including Splash, Space and Thunder. The biggest lines were for characters and candy. Easy to move about after fireworks and parade which is a nice bonus.

Don't know about post-4pm, we arrived at 7:30pm. Once we got through the turnstiles with our event ticket we were given wristbands so I assume CMs were on the lookout for those without them, much like EMH. Otherwise for the parade and fireworks I don't know what was being done.

And merchandise I sadly cannot report on and shall leave that to someone else. We didn't set foot in the Emporium or even near merch which was a shame. I already have regrets! :brick:

I didn't even find out if Sora was there this year!

Did they let ticket holders in after 4PM?

>In the past, they have done this. 4pm is when you can either enter the park on the Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween ticket or get your wristband if you are already in the park. This way you have a full 8 hours of fun in the park if you really wanted.

How crowded overall was it?

>Also in years past, the parties tend to become more crowded the closer you get to Halloween. That being said, you tend to only feel the crowds for the candy lines, character meet n' greets, and the first parade. Crowds will thin out after the fireworks for sure, and always go to the second parade showing. The lines for the candy and characters (if they are out still) will be shorter. Also, use your time from 4pm to 7pm to ride the rides.

Were CMs insuring non-ticket holders were exited from the park?

>Yes, it may be a tad unorganized for the first one each year, but trust me they do check. Promptly at 7pm all rides, stores, and restaurants check for wristbands at their entrances. There are typically CMs stationed on the bridges into each land as well checking for wristbands. Once the rides, restaurants, and stores clear in each land, a team of CMs sweep the rest of each land checking for wristbands as they work their way toward the castle hub. Then then sweep down main street all the way out to the turnstiles. Guests dinning at sitdown restaurants are typically escorted out if they are the final parties. Even if a guest were to manage to find a way to stay in the park, they can only watch the parade, fireworks, and see the shows. No candy, no rides, no characters because they will still be checking for wristbands. As the event goes on through the month, CMs also get better at knowing how guests try to hide or get away with sticking around, so don't even try it. Still doesn't mean that you won't come across someone who didn't pay and got to stay.

Crowds were good and most rides were 10 minutes or less. Yes, you can get in starting at 4pm. It was a blast. We saw a family of 3 dressed up as haunted mansion ghosts and some folks dressed as killer Alice and Mad Hatter.

i was wondering the same thing about the monorail. we were staying at the poly mid august when the early closings first went into effect and it was a big disappointment as i'd booked specifically on the monorail loop for the ease of moving around via monorail (i traveled with just my granddaughter and myself for the first time). we're going to the mnsshp early oct so we were wondering how it was working as well.

we've always been able to get into the parks at 4pm.

cast members are vigilant about checking for wrist bands.

wait times vary with candy and characters. it seems weekends and closer to halloween are of course busiest.

hope everyone has fun dressing up...my granddaughter wants to be the bride from the haunted mansion this year so the rest of us are "supporting characters" lol. i've been relegated to being a dead/mansion maid but i have the comfiest costume so i'll take it lol.

I went last night just to meet Gaston & it was amazing!!

Where does Jack Sparrow meet? I didn't hear anything about him.

Though by 7:15pm the 7 Dwarfs line was already by Big Thunder, a good hour or so.

I went a few years ago. Not much of a crowd and lots of treats. The fireworks were awsome. One thing we did that not many people know about. On the riverboat there was a CM telling ghost stories and when she was done the three traveling entertainers were there and played (sorry can't remember their name, they usually were in frontierland. One played guitar and sang.)

I watched a video of the Boo Too You Parade and I noticed that the HM gravediggers did not rake their shovels across the ground causing sparks like they did in the parade I personally saw back in 05. Did they stop this for some particular reason? When they did that you could hear the crowd gasp. It was pretty neat.

Wow I hope not, that is such a great part of the parade.

The gravediggers still rake their shovels across the ground in the parade. The only thing I could think of is that they were at a part where they couldn't do it at. It's definitely the best part of the parade.

I think that when it is wet/raining they may not do that. I have seen the parade a few times from the exact same spot, and the night it was rainy they didn't seem to do it.

So in billboards around the area, it is advertised as "Halloween Party" but not as "Not So Scary Halloween Party" - is it because maybe it is in small print and I just can't read it, or is this just to simplify the billboard? The sign outside the park still says "Not So Scary Halloween Party" :)
