I live for the chocolate milkshakes at the Plaza. The base is chocolate ice cream- not vanilla like a lot of other places!

The milkshake at Min and Bill's is like a Wendy's Frosty. When we ate them, though, there were no spoons and you definitely couldn't drink those bad boys with a straw! Definitely made it difficult to enjoy...

If you think this looks drool worthy you'll be swimming through a lake of drool when you see their Sundaes.
By the Grace of God the Mag Mile in Chicago has a Ghirardelli's so I get to indulge a few times a year. Ice Cream treats by Summer, Hot Liquid Chocolate by winter. Life is Good. :)

Is the Gold Rush as delicious as it sounds on the menu?

Also, are the sundaes considered QS or are they snacks?

I had the Orbiting Oreo milkshake at Sci Fi 2 weeks ago. It was AMAZING!! Besides the fact you get a glow cube with it, it was Oreo ice cream and odiva chocolate liquor. Oh my deliciousness!!! :)

I had the Gold Rush last year and honestly, the sundaes at Beaches N Cream I thought were better. It wasn't bad by any means though, we just liked the No Way Jose at B&C better.

Do you remember if the Gold Rush was a snack credit, or was it a QS credit?

I don't remember so I looked a little and found this on Disney Food Blog

"Any item under $5 before tax can be purchased with a Disney Dining Plan snack credit! This applies to both the Soda Fountain and the Chocolate Shop."

Sorry, I'm not going to be much help with those questions. Gold Rush isn't something I would eat, I'm a chocoholic not so much a peanut butter/ice cream gal.

They were one of the last facilities holding out that were not on the dining plan. That could have changed, I'm sure most of it would not qualify as they are more than $4-5 minus maybe a single cone or the decadent drinking chocolate or hot chocolate. The shakes and sundaes are far more expensive and I'm not versed in trading a QS meal credit to buy a dessert, never tried that. If they have been added to the dining plan I'm sure it is very limited.

In all honesty Prime Time makes and excellent shake. Nothing on property comes close to Ghirardelli's.

Plus you get a chocolate square for dessert! I'm fond of the dark salted caramel squares. Slurp.
I cannot wait till August!!! Never had it, but will this time around. Thanks for posting this. I think I gained a few pounds just staring at this. :D
