MLK at MK?

So I did a quick search to see if there was a topic on this (probably is somewhere buried in the forums) but I did not see anything that popped up. We are planning a trip Jan 16-21 and we want to end with MK but that is MLK. My question is, is MLK really that busy or does it vary year to year? I'm seeing mixed reports from all over the internet and some of those sites are kinda questionable.

I traveled in 2008 the week before MLK Day. (The Friday before MLK was our last day in the parks). It was noticeably much more crowded that Friday in MK. But not sure what the actual MLK Day is like.

Hi all! Heading down to Disney from 1/18 - 1/21 and it looks like they've updated the MK hours to 8am - 1am both Saturday and Sunday, with EMH til 3am on Sunday. I've never been when a park has been open that late - does this happen often now? Does this mean that it's going to be packed!

Yes the park will be packed. Disney only extends park hours when they expect large crowds.

Thanks. Something tells me I won't be able to make it that long (have to get up the next mornings for more parks), but it's crazy to think you could spend 19 hours straight there if you wanted too.

January is typically one of the slower times of the year. Since it's a long weekend, there will be more people, but it will be manageable. Get to the parks early and you'll be fine.

We did the EMH till 3am in October. Went to the room and took a nap from 1-5 then went to park. Was crowded when we arrived and it thinned the entire night. By 11 there was no lines to anything. We did so many rides just one after another.

I was in WDW for MLK weekend last year (we came home late afternoon on MLK Day) and it was busy. but not horrendous. I'd say 7-8/10. Manageable for someone who's used to going during peak periods, but if you're used to, say, post-Labor Day crowds, you might be in for a shock.

I went Veterans Day weekend and they had EMH in MK until 2:00a.m. Sunday night. I just checked the park hours and they have EMH in MK until 3:00 a.m. on 1/19 (MLK Day is observed on 1/20). I agree with others. There will be more people but not, I think, anywhere near to the Christmas holiday. You should be fine.
