The Pirates are not the only team in Pennsylvania that is a disaster. The Phillies spent a lot of money before this season to bolster their roster. Yet now they are free falling 4th place losers. :(

Is my laptop busted or is this post really the first MLB post since 10 days ago ( August 12th )?

The Phillies and the Mets are neck and neck. Just when I was thinking the Phils were on a downward spiral...they went into Boston and swept the Red Sox

The Mets have better pitching than the Phillies. My heart wants the Phillies to earn a Wild Card spot but my brain says the Mets have a better shot at it.
What opinion do any of you have on this topic?

I agree that the METS will probably finish ahead of the Phils and possibly get the wildcard spot. I haven't really been paying attention to the Cardinals. So I cannot speak to them holding on to their slot now or not. The Phils have a lot of talent. A lot of expensive talent and they just haven't been able to figure out how to win. Makes me wonder if there is some clubhouse stuff getting into their heads. Baseball is such a mental game too.

Man, Bryce Harper goes to the Phillies and they're in 4th place. Looks like winning that World Series right off the bat was a pipe dream.

Tonight the NY Mets uniforms are so weird. Like they are the NY Ghosts.

Key series for my NL East Braves this weekend. 4 games against the Nationals. Off to a good start with a 4-2 win last night. It took our closer a little extra effort to get us there, but he got there.

Bryce Harper was up in the bottom of the 5th...bases are loaded. Phils are down 3 tuh 1
The zillion dollar man has a chance to change that.
But......nope!
He grounds into an inning ending double play :(

He just threw out Austin Riley at the plate!
That's good. He's an ok guy who tries hard and often has success. Yet he has fallen short of my expectations. The pre season hype surrounding his enormous contract made me think he'd be Reggie Jackson. Someone clutch when it really matters.
