His 5 years from 1999-2003 might have been among the best 5-year stretches ever for a pitcher. ERAs between 1.74 and 2.39 each year, during the steroid era, with an 82-21 W-L record.
He's really amazing to watch pitch. Plus there's the leg kick.

The Nats may appeal to get Harper's suspension extended. Last night in Oakland his replacement, Brian Goodwin, hit two singles, a triple, and a homer, and made a great diving catch in RF.

What's more impressive - Volquez got laid out covering 1st base on the 1st batter in the 1st inning - he got the out and went on to pitch the no-hitter - the 6th in Marlins history. He said he taped up his ankle and was ready to go. Clearly he was.

Trivia time:

On this date back in 1989, our team was up 10-0 in the top of the first inning. There was no way we could blow this impressive lead!

We blew the impressive lead. :( Ended up losing the game 15-11.

A famous broadcaster / former player of ours even made a charity walk from the winning team's city, back home to our city after the season was over, due to a promise he made to "walk home" if we blew our early lead in that game.

What team are we? Who did we loose to?
Aargh!

Bryce Harper tears the cover off a ball with just one swing of the bat.

One week ago from yesterday, Edinson Volquez of the Marlins pitched the first no-hitter of the 2017 season.
Two decades ago from yesterday, I pitched the first no-hitter of the 1997 season, also as a Marlin.

Who am I?
These trivia questions are so much easier when relating to the Mets. No hitter? Johan Santana. Every time.
