MK -- Splash or Space?

Trying to decide where to start when I go to MK. I want to go on both and want to get to them early. Which direction should I head first? (Where I start will determine my direction I go through the park.)

Well... If we arrive early and don't want to do or see anything on main street, we hop on the train and ride it over to where BTMRR is and ride it and Splash until the stand by line gets too long, then we start moving towards FL, hitting PoC and Jungle Cruise and HM along the way. Usually one of us would run and get a FP for Space once we get into FL but after we have pulled our FP for Peter Pan and we are eligible for another FP. We end our MK day in Tomorrowland after we ride Space.

I split MK into 2 days. I have not been able to do everything I want unless I do so. I usually start off one morning with either a Splash or BTMR fastpass and get in line for the other. Then the next day there I start off with Space.

With Fastpass+ I guess I have to book one of the Frontier mountains like an hour after I plan on arriving. I have to completely come up with a new plan thanks to those wristbands.

If you want to hit both in the morning:

(1) Be at the park entrance at rope drop. Go to Space Mountain first. If you want to ride Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, consider doing it now, although pausing for other attractions will obviously lengthen your wait time by the time you get to Splash Mountain (on an average crowd day, arriving at Splash say, 90 minutes after park opening will result in a 20-minute wait).
(2) Now you have to cross the park. Walk back through the hub and get to Frontierland. If you want to ride Peter Pan, consider heading through Fantasyland instead and doing it now.
(3) If you want to go on Big Thunder Mountain, consider doing it now.
(4) Splash Mountain should be the last headliner you aim for, and you'll want to get there no later than 60 minutes after park opening if you want a short wait. It takes about 20 minutes to ride, so you don't want to go there first, as lines for all of the headliners will be building steadily while you ride. (In contrast, riding Space Mountain takes 2 minutes and 30 seconds, Peter Pan is 2 minutes 45 seconds and Big Thunder is around 3 minutes 30 seconds.) Once you've finished those headliners, you can make your way back through the park and visit the non-headliners. If you're already at Splash Mountain, I'd start with the Jungle Cruise, POTC and Haunted Mansion before finishing out the rest of the non-headliners in Adventureland, Frontierland and Liberty Square...

That being said (I'm piggybacking on @G8rchamps' advice below), a better use of your time might be to hit all the headliners in Frontierland/Adventureland/Liberty Square in the morning, and save your FP+ for some combination of 3 from Space Mountain, Enchanted Tales, 7DMT (if open), Rapunzel M&G, Peter Pan and Buzz in the afternoon.

Assuming you're using FP+ (and not picking up FPs at the park), I would do Space First. After that, I would bee-line over to Splash. If the line's not too long, then hop BTMR after Splash. I would keep all FP+s for the afternoon/PM when the lines for rides get long. I would think you could knock out the mountains in the morning without too bad of a wait.

We go in Summer and enter MK at rope drop and we grab a FP for Splash, ride BTMR twice, then ride Splash then head over to Space and the line is still short at 15 mins so you can do all three mountains in the first hour.

It could possibly depend on the temperature, if it's warm out I might to go Splash first but if it's cooler out it might be better to go to Splash afterwards since less people will be riding. I remember I was there a few years ago and the park was jammed but it wasn't that warm and Splash had a 5 minute standby wait in the middle of the day.

We usually head into Adventureland first so I would say Splash but if it is hot out then FP splash and go stand in queue for Space since that ride has an entirely air conditioned line...

...as long as legacy FP is still available that is.

The last time I went, I got faspass+ later in the day for Space Mt. We went to the back of the park and worked our way forward. That worked out well. Walked onto Splash and Mt RR.

Frontierland is ridiculously crowded during the "peak" hours of the day! We always head there 1st, and can ride BTMRR and Splash several times each before the crowds get there! But, if Space is your fave, I'd head over there 1st, and ride it a few times as well as Buzz Lightyear!:) Also of note: Fantasyland gets very crowded as well. So, you just have to decide what your faves are and make a plan. Go Early Extra Magic Hours and get everything done before noon.;)

^I agree with this. Space Mountain -> Buzz Lightyear -> Peter Pan -> Big Thunder -> Splash Mountain. All assuming you arrive at rope drop. You can usually achieve this with low waits until about 10:30am.

Buzz Lightyear is not on my bucket list. :p lol. It's just me and my best friend, with no children, so we aren't really rushing for those types of rides. Well, not all of them lol. My biggies at the MK are Splash, Space, BTMRR, HM, PotC, and maybe even JC for nostalgia's sake. After that, I'll go on more, but at a leisurely pace. I want to just be able to take it all in.

On a 9.4 crowd level day in December we got there before rope drop at 8am (early EMH), and in the first 2.5 hours we were able to ride Space Mountain twice, Astro Orbiter twice, Buzz Lightyear, Indy Racecar, Haunted Mansion, BTMRR, Splash Mtn, Pirates of the Caribbean, PLUS see my daughter get married to PUSH. After that, we had brunch, and when we returned to the MK, we were still able to squeeze in a ride on the railroad, the Tea Cups, Mickey's Philharmagic, Ariel's Under the Sea, the Enchanted Tiki Room and a Dole Whip Float, dinner, the Castle Light Show, and the Main Street Electrical Parade. If you arrive at rope drop and you move at a decent clip, you will have no problem riding both Space and Splash and many others before the throngs arrive. Early is key.
