Rumor MK Space Mountain REVISED in 2026? (One track? side-by-side seating?)

I truly don't understand those who claim, "I have back pain after riding Space Mountain", or "my head hurts because it's so violent". Maybe it's because I've ridden it a hundred times in my life, but I've never once come off of it with even the slightest bit of discomfort. I don't find it rough. I don't find it violent on my body. Do you ride around completely limp and let the ride throw you around like a rag doll?

It absolutely needed a new track 15 years ago, and that's almost an unforgivable offense on the part of TDO, but I'm continually scratching my head when I see people make these claims.

Rode in July. It absolutely hurts. What people say Matterhorn is, Space Mountain is to an extreme, maybe more. I'm glad it was the last ride of the night, because both me and my mom came off the ride dizzy and sore. Even trying to hold ourselves upright, it still threw us around like a rag doll.

I have never found it to be that rough. For me, the worst part is trying to get out of the coaster, there is no easy way to do it

The worst part of Matterhorn is the clanky bumps at the beginning and end of the ride (as for back compressions). The rest of it just slings you around semi-violently. I don't feel MK SM is as bad as Matterhorn, yet... The other issue with Matterhorn is they replace the ride vehicles to 'upgrade' them every so many years, but the track is the real problem..

Just rebuild it as is, and Disney won’t have to pay for a new design from scratch. Plus, they can keep the PeopleMover and queue intact.

If they decide to rebuild the track, the PeopleMover would have to close for two years like the train did, right? That would be a massive loss of two high-capacity rides. They'll probably have to wait for Villains and Cars to open before touching Space Mountain.

Until this exact moment I’ve never put more thought into it other than “that ride was unpleasant”.

We should have a meetup of people that find the ride painful and see if we can find some commonalities. Perhaps we are all scrawny? Maybe we all have weak bones? I need the kind of answers that only scientific research can bring!

Could be, but I doubt Disney would penny pinch to the point of losing valuable capacity for a refurb (maybe I’m naive though!)

Personally I think, maintaining capacity is the last thing Disney cares about. Losing capacity just gives more opportunity to sell lightning lanes. Selling up charges is more important than capacity in todays Disney.

Muppetvision? Seriously? That’s the sacred cow? Not the major E tickets or the whole river that’s been there since opening?

Personally I think it's one of those cows. It has a lot history behind it. Do I think it's splash mountain level? As a whole resort, no, but for the studios, it's a big deal. I would put it the same level as RoA though. Both RoA and Muppets are hot points for a lot of people, is there are alternative spots so we didn't have to lose either. At least not in the next 10yrs or so.

I find Matterhorn to be far more painful than Space Mtn. I can binge ride Space Mtn., but that back car on the Tomorrowland side of Matterhorn was so painful that I avoided riding.

I get that this is subjective. Honestly, for me, at WDW, the back couple cars on RnRC are the worst coaster experience. Really hurts my head, though still not as badly as Hulk!

New New Tomorrowland with a new track for Space, a replacement for SGE, a replacement of Laugh Floor + Space Ranger Spin would be accepted.

I think a lot is being in the dark and not knowing which direction the car will turn - maybe after so many rides you are just more used to it, but if you aren't expecting a jerk to the right or whatever is can be a bit unpleasant for sure

It makes me nervous about the Monsters ride because the Kuka arm on FJ is so bad.

It makes me nervous about the Monsters ride because the Kuka arm on FJ is so bad.

I loved that it did that as it added to the intensity. For me it was an RMC version of a dark ride.

That's part of it but as some one has over 300 coaster credits, Space Mountain is at the bottom with a lot of wooden coasters and older steel coasters. It's not that enjoyable having to ride defensively.

I hate the idea of the moving to a single track because it would mean a faster coaster with an even shorter ride time.... I would rather have the current configuration with a little mor banking here and there to smooth it out, a lot more on-ride special effects and sound... other than that, a complete refresh of the post show scenes and an enhanced queue similar to the original "Space Port" from 1975. Bring back the idea of the entire experience being a journey... not just a quick ride like Tron next door...

I think the kuka arm is too smooth and gets boring after a couple rides and no I’m not your typical thrill seeking teenager the ride is still great I just don’t think it’s that bad.

Why would it be shorter? Seems like that would make it longer if they could use the full space for one track instead of trying to cram in two.

with more space and only 1 track, they would most likely design the ride a lot like Tron next door... faster with a launch, larger track system for bigger trains VS double car bobsleds....and like Tron probably over in 60 seconds....

I agree that's what they will likely do but do we really need two of essentially the same ride right next to each other? I hope that, if they do this renovation, they come up with something to differentiate it significantly from Tron. I'd like more than just a longer ride and different seating position.
