MK parking

EVERY time I park at the Contemporary there is 100+ parking spots available, EVERY time.

I guess nobody knows how to park for free at the GF without even presenting an ID.

Same here (in reference to the PLENTY of spots there each time I have as well). Free parking here too (well not technically FREE, paid plenty of cash for that pass) so it's not about the money at all, but the easy walk straight from car to gate... And whoever said 20 minutes hasn't left right after Wishes on a night during a crowded midsummer day.
As for the GF parking, I MAY have if we are talking about the same spot.. Not "technically" GF right? If its spot I'm thinking of, but the new gates will eventually be closed I'm guessing... But again for me it's not because its FREE, just a little more convenient (and a more pleasant walk)

some flunky working the MK gate.

I am sorry but this is a really rude comment. I know some very nice college educated people who work there. I also know that many people who work there are retired military, police and fire fighters. SO I do take offense to this comment.

Rumors are just that and they run rampant among everyone. One person hears a tidbit then expands on it and then soon it is a full blown rumor.

This mentality is part of why guests are so rude to cm. Then the guests complain how cm are rude but when you treat them like this with this attitude poor service is what you deserve.

And I know there are some cm who I wonder about... But no matter what they still do not deserve rude comments about them

Just trying to make a point. Flunky probably wasn't a good choice in words.

No cast member should be rude to a guest ever no mater how they are being treated. I have been treated badly by CM's on rare occasions for no reason.

But your saying that's ok because the CM has been mistreated it gives him a free pass to pass it on. Not!

The term "guest" is misleading bottom line we are paying customers. We pay a premium price to vacation at WDW. Our expectations are high.

No, it was poorly said.

I think Dasnowz is probably good at their job and out there making the world a better place. He (she?) probably endures much anger and rudeness and is kind and helpful in return, turning those angry, rude people into apologetic, calm, grateful people. He(she?) does their job well and sends ripples of goodness out into the world.

Dasnowz probably didn't even realize that (s)he said customers deserve to be treated poorly, but staff should be treated well, no matter what.

I think what that poster meant was that it would be nice if we could all be pleasant all the time and not take our frustrations out on others. It was just phrased poorly.

Dasnowz just needed to blow off a little steam, which is much better to do here than at work! I'll bet if he/she re-reads that and realizes what they said, they'll want to clarify it, because they didn't mean it the way it came out. :)

The security lady at the entrance to Pop Century said once the MagicBand goes live the only way you are allowed to park in the any of the resort lots is to have an active Reservation. They will scan the band or RFID card. If no reservation, then you are denied access. BUT, she said if they mention they are coming there to JUST to eat, then she said they've been instructed to let them through. She said she hopes people will not take advantage of that.

Disney will never turn away people looking to spend money at the restaurants and shops IMHO. The ones that fake it to avoid paying for parking are just acceptable losses to avoid hurting their money makers.

All they would have to do is charge the parking and then have it refunded at the restaurant/front desk/gift shop with a receipt.

Sure.. if Disney was really serious about it, that would solve the problem for dining. But it would also discourage touring, etc. Disney wants to maintain that sense of welcoming. I think it's just not that big of a deal for Disney and for 90% of the year they are fine with just the 'threat' of enforcement vs enabling a true enforcement that might discourage other behavior they want.

It's just acceptable losses it seems like. It's not like this is a new problem, or new solutions were needed to fix it. Disney has just let it go.. intentionally.

I don't think it was super poorly worded( but yes not exactly how I wanted it) I think the word then was missed. After awhile of cm being treated poorly frustration comes out and the cm my not be so nice all the time. I don't think the word deserve should have been there either. I think that that part should have been worded differently.

I was trying to make a cause and effect point. Treat cm badly and you can't always expect great treatment.

Sorry if I am slow to post. I am off until next week on vacation.

If Disney would just stop charging for parking at the toll booths, nobody would go to DTD or hotels to get free parking. If they work the cost in somewhere else then that problem is solved.

There is no available property closer to MK that could be set aside without substantial infrastructure and land modifications. There is zero payoff for this type of investment.

Lastly, the MK remains the crown jewel on property. Investments are being made where long-term growth is (new bus loading/unloading and additional fleet).

Going to be something you'll just have to live with.

For me, the journey from the parking lot to MK has never been much of a problem. The headache comes when you stay and watch the fireworks and then get caught up in the herd making a mass exodus trying to leave! Now that can be extremely frustrating and ruin your day (if you allow it to.) My advice is either leave before the fireworks start, or wait 30 minutes to an hour after they end to even attempt to leave.

So by your logic, *DVC4best vacation* ( it was his comment to which Dasnows was originally referring )has the right to make a general sneaky comment that some CM's are *funkys*??

Sorry, its a rude and snarky comment, that is the bottom line!.

You treat everyone politely,,,,,,,even CM's. Just because your a customer does not give you the right to be rude.

I stay and watch the fireworks and will continue to do so, that is one of the reasons for going to MK. Maybe if you go to Disney all the time, missing the fireworks is ok, but when you only go once every few years you do not want to miss the fireworks. Also getting out with a wheel chair is even more difficult. The one thing I dislike about MK is the parking. I do not get to park and take a tram to the ticket center, I have to park and walk to the ticket center and when they run out of handicapped parking spaces, and they have, it is even longer. So I have pushed a wheel chair for a long period of time before even getting to the park and after a whole day in the park, have to do it again in a very crowded boat or monorail. That does not even bring up when we need to go back and take an afternoon rest. We lose a lot of time at MK getting in and out of the park. We do it, love MK, and will continue to do it, just not in love with the parking bit.

I believe the word is "flunky". Which is how one that has no other definable skills or not on the top of the accomplished scale is sometimes, unrespectfully described. It didn't even begin to say that all CM's were defined that way, just that for those that are, the definition fit. It would be rude if said to a CM, or for that matter, anyone face to face. Disrespectful otherwise. If we are going to get all offended, perhaps we need to know what exactly we are offended about.

Your entitled to your OPINION!...

Mine and most people are to call someone a flunky is rude. A general comment was made:

*some flunky working the MK gate*

Does he now anyone that works on the buses or the main gate? NO.it was a rude generally snarky remark?

Maybe you need to read want your so poorly trying to defend? Your humility is slipping a good bit.

I know precisely what I am offended about. You can try and talk your way around it, but it doesn't change anything...IT's RUDE!
