MK Park Hours

I have to say I was disappointed to see that the week we're going in Sept. the park will close most nights at 8pm? Is this typical this time of the year? Is it even dark at that point for the Fireworks? I know AK and HS are kind of stingy with the park hours but geez, MK too?? Ugh.

let me just say that when I first started checking hours 2 months ago, they had magic kingdom hours posted to 9 pm. then they were updated and the hours are now until 11 pm.

Early September is until 9 pm, check in a week or two the hours may be extended until at least 9

Right around the time school starts back up the hours drop a bit. That coupled with the MNSSHP does pull away from the normal operating hours.

Actually party nights the MK closes at 6. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that they have listed 8 PM as closing on the few non-party nights there are. Even in slower crowd times, the MK is slammed on non-party nights. I'm sure it will change, but it's dumb that they're even starting with 8 as the posted time.

It was less than a decade ago that MK was routinely open until 11p and midnight on most summer nights.
Park prices increase annually. Thus, you pay more and get less.

It was actually less than a week ago.

July had 11 pm or later closures for just shy of half the month. The rest were at 10 pm.

June only had 5 nights where the park closed before 11 pm.

June of 2009 had 19 days where the MK closed at 10 pm or earlier.

The daily hours are definitely less in summer now, as the MK used to be open til midnight every night in summer up until the early 2000s. BUT, I will say it has also sort of evened out if you look at the entire calendar because the park also used to close at 6 or 7p all the time during the week in Sep, Oct, Nov and Jan and Feb. So some hours are shorter now, but then some hours are actually longer than what they used to be.

The one thing they have definitely cut back on is how late the evening EMHs for the past 5 years or so and at which parks they are at.

Regarding hours changing, like eliza61nyc said, Disney could very well update them as it gets closer to your arrival date DisneyGirl3820. I've had instances in the past where Disney updated park hours a couple of times leading up to my trip, sometimes as close as only a week or 2 before! So it is very possible. However, with that being said, crowds have been much lower than expected this year. So if that trend continues into early fall, Disney may not be as keen on extending the park hours as much as they were in the last few years.

I too have seen them increase park hours in the few weeks leading up to a trip. We usually go in February and September and September especially I have seen last minute increases in park hours. Hopefully this is the case for your trip!

Keep in mind DAK is now open longer.

They've been opening Studios every day earlier as well as keeping it open later too.

They have EMH scheduled in the MK from 9 - 11 pm early in Sep, and from 8 - 10 later in the month on Wednesday nights.

Its a HUGE bummer.... This has been the WDW way as of late.
