Is MK the place to be? I thought most people went to Epcot for NYE?

AGREED. Not there this year, but have been at Disney for new years 2002-2005. We always watch MK fireworks on the night of the 30th, then are at Epcot for the real party on the 31st. Epcot does a great job with the dance parties, crowd control, and fireworks. I miss those Epcot nights!!

my fam. and I were wondering where was the best park to watch the fireworks...I didn't know if EPCOT was going to be extremely ridiculous b/c that might be the park they show on TV. I was told by a friend who is a CM that the best thing to do is get to a park that day early and stay there. Any thoughts where to spend our night? I know GF does a whole balloon thing at the hotel...:)

Wow...I only watched a little of that clip and I gotta say those look *fantastic*! I'm sure that NYE is a blast, but I don't think I can handle all the people. I enjoy getting a second hand report from those who are/were there though. :D

My friend who is a Fireworks manager was talking about it. He said that it was going to be incredible this year, now I believe him!

I synched the audio of an older version of the show to Figment's video using different players. It is apparent that all of Fantasy in the Sky plays first befire the long pause. Then, the NYE show begins.

In other words, the order of the show has changed although the same music is used. Not sure about the character commentating since I have yet to hear it.

Watched from near Casey's Corner today.

It is just Fantasy in the Sky with the mirror show followed by a pause where the Castle does a sort of tick-tock by having white light switch directions while Mickey Goofy and Minnie talk about "is it time to flip the switch?"

Then of course they flip it.

Dunno if you saw, but the countdown to the New Year is actually fireworks that explode into the shape of numbers. That was neat.

Then the fireworks in the round to auld lang whatever it is.

I thought it was nice, but Fantasy in the Sky realy isnt as good of a show as Wishes as far as synchronizing th fireworks goes.

I was there too with my girlfriend. We didn't get there until around 8. I was surprised as we arrived at the resort and there was no traffic and I saw the MK parking lot and it was no where near full. I did my usual zig zag around the cones and parked near the front. We walked right up Main Street got a spot in the middle of the hub and watched Holiday Wishes. This show really doesn't lose anything without the perimeters. We hung around and watched the Celebrate the Season show since we missed it at the MVMCP party we went to. We rode a few rides and was surprised at how short the wait was. I have been on other nights were it seemed busier. We then got a spot once again right at the end of main street at the hub 15 minutes before Fantasy in The Sky.
All I got to say about the show is wow. Yes, it is not the most synchronized show but they make it up in the sheer number of huge fireworks. The countdown was awesome. That was so cool using fireworks to spell out the numbers. All the perimeters going off with all kinds of different fireworks was so cool. And the finale was just jaw dropping. There are alot of things that I don't like about the current state of MK but they know how to put on an amazing fireworks show. Kudos to Brad Cicotti for designing another amazing show. This show along with Magic, Music and Mayhem are 2 of the best fireworks shows I have ever seen.
The most shocking thing was getting out of the park was so easy. We walked down main street with the rest of the crowd after the fireworks, exited, walked up the monorail ramp and we only had to wait one train. I don't know if it was because the resort guests had EMH but we were leaving the parking lot at 12:30.
My only negative was that the Q's of the few attractions we went on were just full of trash. They looked like no one had bothered to sweep them all day. Same thing for MILF's and Philharmagics theaters. However, the streets were pretty clean. They had alot of people out sweeping. I saw alot of managers, maintanence and behind the scenes people out sweeping. That and they did a good job with crowd control. They had cast members on all the bridges around the hub and on main street seperating the crowd to create a two way traffic flow. I am guessing that attendance this week is down from last year. Since I have not heard of any closings and after seeing the crowds last night. Well, we had a blast and we will be hitting Epcot tonight.

Are the fireworks going to be at midnight tonight?

(That probably sounds like a really stupid question...lol)

Also, where's the best place to watch the fireworks if you don't want to actually be in the MK? Can you see them from somewhere outside at the GF?

They begin at 11:50 - 10 mins of Fantasy in the Sky and a few minutes afterwards of NYE tag. The best place outside of MK is the Poly beach, or the TTA ferry boat dock. GF is okay if you stand on the boat dock or Narcossee's, but I prefer the angle from Poly - especially on a night like tonight when they do the mirrored show. The 4th floor observation deck of the Contemporary is also fairly nice but has the same disadvantage as the GF.

I have a question that I hope somebody can answer:

I spent 2005's New Year's Eve night at Magic Kingdom park and was slightly disappointed that they didn't have confetti to accompany the New Year's Eve fireworks that night.

I have no idea why Disney wouldn't have confetti. I've seen them use it for other celebratory events and was surprised to see them not use it for something as big as New Year's Eve.

So why doesn't Disney use confetti? Is there some sort of practical reason why not?
