MK Hours for this month

Has anyone else checked the hours for the MK for this month? A few days have been extended to 8:00 instead of 6:00! Is this a mirage? My sisters will get to see Spectromagic after all!!!???? I am so excited. I've got to call to make sure!

I just called to confirm that the hours for Sept. 22-24, 26 & 27 have been extended to 8:00. I wish the 25th was extended since it is our anniversary. That's okay!

But extended hours can only = one thing: lots and lots of people!

Seems strange to extend the hours for four of the week days and leave Wednesday as "early closing" - keep checking, you may be surprised

My husband said that they did not extend the hours on the 25th as a gift to us for our anniversary. This way we can leisurely stroll out of the park after dinner at CRT.

I just wonder what is going on there that week for the hours to be extended? How many people are going to be there?

I will be there and you couldn't have made me happier. Now if they would only annoucne an E-ride night for the week my trip would be complete

That's great new!! If it is true, then we'll be able to see Spectromagic. Did they change the parade schedule, too?

They probably found out that schools are out that week in New Jersey, and there will be thousands of people from NJ there with their kids.

Having MK open will reduce the nighttime load on EPCOT and Illuminations.

I was wondering what was going on! For some reason I thought the kids in NJ got their week off a little later. Oh well, as long as the lines don't get too long.

Spectromagic IS scheduled.

Maybe they based it on the number of resort reservations that week.

Our experience with hordes from NJ in October is the reason we go in Sept now.

I just got a very nice call from Disney about park hours becuase I complained about them during the summer. She basically said that they finalize them two weeks in advance with projections from resort bookings, ticket sales and time of year. They are always subject to change at anytime.

Nothing has changed for the week before, (15-20th). That's when I'm there, hope that means the parks will be empty !

we're there 21 sept to 5 oct

Man, thats great! I checked hours last week and was really disappointed that the MK was closing at 6pm during the week. I have a lot of fond memories of the MK at night, its really a beautiful place lit up.

I am not sure how dark it will be at 8pm if it is at all, but the extra two hours makes getting all the rides in much easier

I'm very curious about this change. If you look, on consecutive Sundays, the 22nd and 29th, they are open until 8 but one week it is Spectromagic at 8 pm and the next it is Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks. Also, the odd bit about Wednesday not being open until 8 pm.

If the hours are correct, I'll certainly more than welcome them but skepticism does still pervade and I would not go rearranging schedules until confirmation was acheived.

As for crowds, remember that the entire Carribean Beach Resort will be closed at that time so a 2,000+ room resort will be empty. Just because Disney resorts may be full due to re-spread doesn't mean hotels outside the park are experiencing similar pickup.

I remain skeptical but would be appreciative of more opportunities to see Spectromagic.

WOW!!!

Well, it messes up my itenerary to a certain extent, because my plans were to visit MK on Wednesday, but I can shift Tuesday's and Wednesday's schedules for this! This just made my day. I didn't read the thread when it first appeared, but I accidentally clicked on it this morning and boy am I glad I did!

I will be there Sept. 15-22nd. Does this mean that fireworks will only be shown on the night of the 21st? I went to DW and it showed fireworks and Spectromagic for only one night? I've never seen Spectromagic...is the 21st the only night it will be shown?

On the 21st there will be fireworks and Spectro.

On the 22nd there will only be Spectro.

So you will get 2 chances to see Spectro and one to see the fireworks.

Yep...I will be at MGM most of the Day on Saturday the 21st...then I am jumping over to the MK for Spectro and Fireworks that night
