MK Honeymoon Photo Shoot

Hi all!!

We are getting married in exactly 18 months time and while I am totally Disney crazy a lot of our family can not fly for health reasons so we are having our wedding in the UK (where we live) but are coming to WDW to honeymoon!!

While we are there I would really like a proper disney photoshoot doing but I am unsure what to do?

I have no idea how much a photoshoot in MK would cost, how you go about organising it and what photos they take e.g if it just the standard generic photos that a photopass photographer would take or do they do other shots that i have seen taken such as on the grass in front of the castle or in the rose garden etc.

Thanks for all your help!!

Congratulations! Unfortunately, MK photo shoots are for Disney brides only. You can have a photo shoot in any of the other parks, but you cannot wear bridal attire unless you have a Disney wedding. You can have a resort photo shoot done with wedding attire though. You can arrange everything through Disney Event Photography:

I don't know the prices for resort shoots, but Epcot and the other parks start at around $625 for a 1 hour session. Resorts are a little bit cheaper are offer more options as far as date and time of day.

Or you could just book a private photopass session. Most of the deluxe resorts will offer those. Costwise it is much more affordable, however some of the photopass photographers are not a qualified as others. I think time is twice as long as the "mini" session that Disney event photography offers. You get the pics on cd either way, but if you want the borders, then photopass is the way to go.

When I looked last, an engagement shoot was around $300. They might have you do it in the morning to avoid photo-bombers, but I'm pretty sure the engagement shoot package does not require a DFTW, so I'd look at that one.

The engagement session does not require DFTW but they won't do it in MK, the other parks are no problem. The only way to get an official Disney session in MK is to be a Disney bride.

MK bridal photo shoot questions

I have been trying find out if WDW offers MK bridal photo shoots each day or are there some days that it is not allowed. If anyone has any knowledge on this I would sure appreciate hearing. Thanks!

Theoretically, shoots are offered daily, but the powers that be in the Magic Kingdom determine photo shoot date and time availability. They also have a tendency to change or cancel existing reservations on a whim. DFTW and Disney Event Photography don't have any say in the matter. Recently, MK canceled quite a few sessions over several weeks in August-September and most of November. Brides that had shoots scheduled during those times were offered the option of rescheduling over the next 12 months (impossible for most due to logistics of traveling with a wedding dress, hair/makeup, etc). Brides that cannot make it back are SOL.

We just had out MK shoot on the 20th and it was absolutely amazing! Can't beat sunrise in the MK! That said, our date and time changed 4 times before being finalized less than a week before the wedding. So, if you book a shoot, be prepared for changes, and realize that the whole thing is subject to cancellation until the you and the photographer enter the MK.

I find this so Anti Disney on priding themselves in making every brides wedding a fairytale and doing all they can to make their dreams come true!

Especially where any time right before the actual time they can and have changed it on couples. Wonder why more of this in not mentioned to save heartache.

I found out through the disboards wedding and honeymoons forum- girls over there were talking about it quite a bit. Each time my shoot was changed I found out through that site rather than from Disney themselves. I was lucky enough to have a fantastic wedding planner who responded quickly, other girls were waiting weeks to have the news confirmed by their coordinators.

Actually, as of sometime in the past few months Photopass is no longer doing the private sessions at the deluxe resorts. This is now offered as the "mini" package thru Disney's Fine Arts Photography for $150 which includes a 20 minute shoot at the Poly, Grand Floridian, Beach Club, or Animal Kingdom Lodge and a cd w/your images & copyright release.

The engagement session does not require DFTW but they won't do it in MK, the other parks are no problem. The only way to get an official Disney session in MK is to be a Disney bride.

The only way to get a photo shoot in the MK in bridal attire is to be a DFTW bride. We had our family portraits done in the MK in December '07 thru Disney's Professional Photographic Services. The signature castle shot taken in the Rose Garden is in this thread.

Currently there is a $350 package available thru Disney's Fine Arts Photography that allows you to choose virtually anywhere on WDW property for your hour long session with a photographer and assistant. This package includes retouching & artistic editing, website posting of images, and a 6x6 proof book. Not noted on the website is the option to purchase a cd w/copyright release of these portraits for an additional $50.

The portrait package info is on this page:

http://www.disneyeventphotography.com/portraits/

There are examples of portraits from both sessions available to view on their website. There are even some of a family (they all have black shirts on) that appear to be in the MK.

I booked my family an hour-long sitting in World Showcase in September. Our shoot time is actually 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. so there won't be anyone else around. We're excited because our last portraits were in the MK and now we'll be doing Epcot. :sohappy:

Took the words out of my mouth. My husband and I did our engagement shoot in the Magic Kingdom with a Disney photographer. It was in August 2007, at 10 AM. It wasn't one of those 6 AM before park open photoshoots. It wasn't in bridal attire. They gave us suggestions on clothing, and it was an hour long shoot in which we basically went to various locations in the park. Most of the spots were public spots.

I can't remember the cost from when I did it, but $350 sounds about right. We did get everything included in the above mentioned package. I have 12 of the pictures in my Disney "at home" wedding folder here if you're interested in what they look like: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/album.php?albumid=411&page=2

They are mixed in w/my actual wedding photos. All the ones where i'm in a dark green shirt & white skirt are from the MK photoshoot. I only posted my favorite ones. I was not a Disney bride, but I did theme my wedding Disney. I had fun w/the shoot, but we were so sweaty from running to various locations that the photos toward the end of the shoot weren't great. I still recommend doing it though, if it hasn't changed. It was 4 years ago, so I don't know what they currently do w/this photoshoot.
