How bad are we talking magic kingdom will be on 12/30 since they running the firework specials? How bad will the parks be this coming 3ish weeks? Will the annual passes of all but the highest tier help at all? Thanksgiving a few weeks ago wasn’t bad at all wait time wise, especially compared to before. Do we expect that to continue?

Well, I purposely avoid that time of year. It's VERY busy and crowded. I would guess that 12/30 is only slightly better than 12/31. Slightly but probably not by much. Good luck!

Do you think wait times will mimic any of the times during this last Thanksgiving week which was first really busy times post the controversial changes Disney made?

I'm not sure how to answer that question/statement. It will be very busy. In fact, Christmas/New Years is the busiest time of the year every year. You can be sure standby wait times will be very long. I don't know what "controversial changes" you're referring to.

I'll just reiterate, it's the busiest time of the year. DAS and LL (or FP+ previously), by definition, affect standby wait times to allow those with that access to ride before standby. Personally, I wouldn't go. I would just be miserable. But to each their own.

Yes
I hope it turns out well for you and doesn't make you reflect on life choices. Wall to Wall Epcot during the new years celebration can be a blast if you like what they are spinning, but MK is off limits for us.

Epcot is so big too. But I’ve been there and walking the world showcase can be a people dodging activity. I won’t be in the parks on New Year’s Eve that seems miserable

Yes, but the 30th will still be pretty insane. Particularly at MK due to the fireworks. But as long as you are aware of that going in and have realistic expectations, it's still a good time.
Hmm I wonder which would be worse the 6:30 or 11:50pm. I feel like the 11:50pm because everyone from the other parks will make their way to Mk at that time since they have the latest hours.

Although not an apples to apples comparison we go every 4th of July to the parks. Like 12/30 and 12/31, the parks have the 4th fireworks displays on both 7/4 and 7/3. I don't really remember seeing any major attendance differences between the 4th and the 3rd. The people who are there for vacation are generally already there and not coming in just for 12/31.
