MJ's Mayflowers

Well. . .
Don't let me stop you.
If the others are up for it, do it!
I just can't.

Normal folks. . .
Do you know any here? :lookaroun

As if it would even be remotely the same without you....no way! It's all or nothing...I'll think of another way to meet Uncle Maury.

Normal folks...I don't think I know any anwhere!

It's really really nice...and I don't like baseball all that much. You would love it!

Grant wants to "surprise " me with tickets for the game next Sunday...I'd love to go but the rest of my family would have a fit, since it's in the family contract that we spend every holiday together.

Go anyway!
It's your Mother's Day, too!

 You live in Philly and you haven't been there yet?

Nope.

That's good. That's one of the ones I want to go to.

You'll probably get there before I do!

So I keep telling myself... But my family's got the guilt thing down cold. I'm hoping to break the cycle with Em...we shall see how well I can overcome my programming!

Anyone have any special plans for Mother's Day?

I'll be flying back home on Mother's day.. with my mom, so that's okay. Then it's off to Marc's mom's for dinner as soon as the plane lands.

I'm working in the morning.
But the girls will be here in the afternoon.
We celebrate Mother's Day and George's birthday, which is the 15th, the same day.

Oh my Lord...just looked out into the yard and Grant has Em on the roof of the shed with him. It's a flat roof, but a roof nonetheless. On the one hand I am having a heart attack and on the other I am telling myself she's with her father who of course will watch her like a hawk and I really want to encourage her sense of adventure.

She'll be fine.
Slightly on topic. . .
I remember watching a report on 20/20 once about how a Mom and a Dad can influence their children. The report showed a small child in a park climbing on the jungle gym (or monkey bars, as we called them). Dad was standing right beside him urging him on, telling him he can go higher. Mom was under him telling him not to worry he was safe and she was there to catch him. The basis of the report was that children need both things in their life. . .encouragement and security. . .and that, ideally, a two parent family is the best way to give that to a child. But a single parent can be both. . . it's just harder to know which to be and when. But you can get the balance if you try hard enough. It's interesting to think how a child processes that blend of encouragement and security. They just instinctively know when the balance is right.

That is so cool...and pretty much what I needed to hear. The child is safely down and I'm glad I didn't pitch a fit. I want her to try things and have fun but of course you've got the mom brain thinking about the worst that could happen...blech.

Yes.
That's the Mom thing. . .

That's not a good thing... WWIII would break out...

Oh.
Well.
We wouldn't want that.
I hope you make it in time, then.

Hi guys - I hope we have a meet up some day; I'm always wondering when I'm not here how all of you people are doing.
Interesting afternoon I've had...we were just finishing lunch when my folks stopped by to give Abby their bday gift to her (gift card to Claire's  ), and they got to see my house in all it's uncleaned glory. Mom insists not to worry she didn't come to see my house, but I know her....she will complain to somebody somewhere sometime about how I never clean. :brick: :brick:

We are going to my parents place. Friday and coming home Sunday. :sohappy:

Hello everyone. I am here for a few minutes. I was out shopping for the girls swimsuits.:brick: :brick: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: I hate shopping on Saturadays. Finally bought 2 of them at Old Navy and 1 at Penneys. I don't like them making little girls swimsuits as if they are tramps already. I finally found tankinis for them. Now I still have to go out and buy a gift for my youngest for tomorrows first communnion.
