Between the 3 cats and the dog, our little house gets a funky smell if I don't keep up with it. I hadn't done them since right before Christmas, so today they were pretty bad.

I read a whole book in college about how all these "labor saving" devices actually created more work for the modern housewife. It used to be that we beat the rugs out twice a year, now with vaccums and shampooers, it's so much "easier" and therefore we're expected to do it more often.

2 words: hardwood floors. I had 2 cats and DBF had 2, so we are now the Brady Bunch of cats w/ a grand total of 4. Carpet would be a disaster for us. :lookaroun
We have the purple Dyson (the one for pets :shrug: ) for the rugs/couches and it is wonderful!

With our 4 cats, we need the Dyson! We've got the DC14 version - the purple and grey one. Works wonderfully! Our house has hardwood on the middle floor and carpet everywhere else. I like the hardwood for formal spaces, but it'd be too cold for the basement and the bedroom, I think.

Yeah, you'll be amazed at what they pick up, and even how to use it. This weekend I tell her to stop and she looks at me and says all exaspertated... GOLLIEEEE!.
