I'm trying to catch up here, so I don't know if you all have talked about this any further. Considering back in 1990 the known rate was 1 in 10,000, I certainly doubt this kind of increase is due solely to better diagnosis. I think it accounts for some of the increase - some children were diagnosed as mentally retarded when in fact it was autism - but not for all of it. One question to ask yourself is where all the 30-40 year olds that were misdiagnosed or not diagnosed at all hiding, if there has been no real increase?
agreed, but I'm sure there a lot of cases that were misdiagnosed in the past too. There certainly has been a drastic increase though - really makes you wonder why....

Don't overdo.
You said you have a migraine.
Relax.

Hi Jess!

I'll try Dottie...I am so not good at that, it's one of the things that frustrates Andrew the most about me...

I agree Jenny.

After a rousing discussion about Baby's R Us this morning... mom and I went over and got Lizzy some new shoes (she outgrew all her size's fives... so she needed some new one's) And I bought her several summer outfits, and so did mom.

Then I had 3 apts. to look at some houses today. I liked one but they were asking a little much imho. We might still put in an offer on it and see if they bite... but it's been on the market for close to 6 months (a VERY long time for Charleston) So that tells me they're probably being stubborn on the price...

idk... We'll see... Lizzy just woke up... and all is well other than that. :)

How about you? Anything new or interesting today?
:)

 Didn't you just buy a house?

Ok I have a dumb question for y'all...

What's better... a Plasma HDTV? or a LCD HDTV?

Anyone?

George says LCD. (He also says "Hi Jess!")

Hello.........:)

Hi Fishy!

Good question Jenny!

I did. I just bought a condo. :) But... we decided we want a house. So, with the market as it is, this place is pretty much already sold. They're just waiting for us to get out so we can close. I won't make anything on it since I just bought it, but it's no biggie. I hope to be out of my condo by March, but we'll see how fast it goes.

George says LCD. (He also says "Hi Jess!")

Awesome. (Tell him "Thanks George! Loved the video!" - just like that. :lookaroun) :D

Same old, same old... I dream of same old. I'm jealous. :o I'm looking forward to life settling down a bit this summer... (does life ever settle down any with kids?) Well if it does.. I'm looking forward to that. LOL

There's this great divide in autism research, however...is it genetic, or is it environmental? And both sides are unwilling (at least to me) to admit it's probably both. And it has become highly politicized, which will slow down the search for answers even more. Fact? A lot of these kids have medical issues that need relief. It is not merely a psychological illness - it is also biological. I want the biological issues to be addressed, not dismissed. Keep looking for a cause, but don't make it your only cause. Make sense?
I know, I know, I get on my soapbox a lot about this...but it gets frustrating....

It does settle down, but never too much. But don't wish it away too quickly, Jess. You'll want it all back someday.

Oh I'm not wishing it away... I'm wishing it would slow down so I can hang on to these moments just a little while longer... :o I love being with Lizzy but I feel like everyday is just rushing by. I'm just ready to stop worrying about houses, husbands and additional kids... and just enjoy the one I have. :o

Mine with MJ doesn't, but I think that is because of our unique situation...

Gee....and I have avoided these subjects just because I didn't want to sound preachy or teachy... :o

That is one thing that is nice about me and MJ both being disabled, we do have frequent days where we just lay around and cuddle and love each other....
