Yeah it is.
Maybe people take more time to get to know people on the internet. They don't trust as easily as they might in the real world, so they don't fall into friendships as quickly.

probably true - maybe it's just the anonyminity (is that a word?) that makes us more comfortable being ourselves...

I think it probably starts that way. I know I felt more comfortable in the beginning here than I otherwise would, because of that anonymity. But isn't it strange that just about all of us have have revealed so much about ourselves? We didn't have to do that. I guess we reached a comfort level that makes us want to be more open.
