Well, good news about SPACE:

1) It is now open weekends, as it opened today from 4 pm onward
2) Three of the centrifuges are now open to guests

Thanks for the update! Things seem to be coming along nicely. Do you know which centrifuge was the third to open? It would either be red(#3) or green(#4).

I'm going to guess red (#3) is the one that opened--it had been further along than #4 for several months, now, so I will guess it's the one that opened this weekend:)

Did you see the recent Jim Hil Media article? I never know what to believe, but I hope they don't mess with the ride. Granted, it takes it toll on me as well, but I don't feel it should be lessened as I hear too many and see too many people who loved it with ZERO ill effects.

I have no idea how many people are going to Guest Relations and complaining (complaining a ride is too intense seems weird as a complaint, you would think someone just wouldn't ride again), plus they had plenty of survey takers once you exit the ride.

I would think more people would be upset over Tower of Terror

Red was the third to open. I just rode it Saturday at about 7:00 It was raining and we walked right on with only three people in front of us.

I just read the Jim Hill Media article.... Is this guy in the know??? Can any CM confirm his story? I hoping to ride M:S on my upcoming trip on July 27th...wondering if anyone out there has seen young(6 or 7) children riding M:S, and if they handle the ride OK ?

I'm going to try and be calm here. DON'T MESS WITH MISSION: SPACE!!!! Ok much better.

Seriously though this is the most ludicris thing I've heard. Why even have a thrill ride if it isn't going to be thrilling and acurate? I mean first Test Track, while extremely fun, isn't really that thrilling. If they keep Epcot without a TRUE thrill ride they will not get the attendence boost they are expecting. Just wait until August is over and then we'll know more about guest feedback. I for one have heard MANY more positive things on the internet about M:S than I have negative.

If anyone notices a sudden change in the intensity be sure to let us know. I highly doubt this would happen but any changes that you notice would be interesting to hear.

Its going to be very very difficult for this to happen for a couple of reasons..

1. WDI have spent a long time calculating the most appropriate levels of intensity for comfort level and thrill level. They cannot just suddenly abandon 6 years of research and testing because of a few people on the internet complaining.

2. Changing the intensity would require lots of reprogramming and testing which would mean the attraction would not open as scheduled.

3. Most of the WDI crew have now left Mission Space.

Everything I have heard from people working on this indicates it will not be changing, and that the guests on the whole are having no major trouble with the intensity. It is intense, but then it is supposed to be. Remember this is a thrill ride simulating deep space flight. It is not simulating a gentle balloon flight over england! ;)

Dont hate me for posting this, but I really didn't want to start a new mission:space thread... I noticed that, on the new disney.com website, they state that the outcome of the mission depends on how each astronaut performs during the flight. Does anyone know if they actually have an alternate ride sequence (in which the mission is a failure) that will be added for the official opening? As far as I knew, if you dont do something correctly, the computer overides it for you. ... just curious...

Yeah what must be changed is maybe the warnings that must be even more readable/audible etc... or there should even be some minor changes in the simulator (to the headrest) to force you not to move your head. But the intensity isn't really the problem, the problem is that some people don't look straight during the ride and get dizzy.
