Mission Space Question

I only have trouble with the liftoff on the spin side. My Mom actually has medication for motion sickness and she had NO problem with the non-spin side and enjoyed it. My F-15 fighter pilot brother-in-law really enjoyed the spin side. :D

Its not bad at all, just keep your eyes open, and face forward at all times and you'll be fine, most people's reaction to something they're afraid of is to close their eyes, then your eyes and ears get out of sink and your brain goes nuts and then you get ill, so if you can keep your head facing forward, eyes open and do not move your head you'll be fine.

I kept my eyes open and faced forward and it made me dizzy and lightheaded... everyone's system is different! ;)

I always got car sick as a kid on a long trip, but I had to ride in the back seat. And I can't ride inside the cabin of a boat without feeling queasy, but out in the air on a deck I'm okay. I always go on spinning type rides (Teacups)and am okay. So my 32 year old daughter and I went on Mission when it first opened and only had one version. We were so excited, read the warnings and didn't think we'd have any problem. We got into our seats and were ready. Then they closed the door and the small confined space started to freak me out just a little, but I got over that and settled myself for this fantastic ride. Well as it commenced I started feeling really ill - not sick to my stomach but just odd all over like heavy legs and stuff. It got so bad I felt I was on the verge of hysteria so I had to do mind over matter and made myself think of being back in my office going through the process of paying bills to get through it. I was sooo ready to get out I couldn't wait. I really wanted to enjoy the ride and if it hadn't been for the physical stuff I would have. Two years later I decided to try it again but on the mild version that had just been introduced. That went fine but I haven't gone on it since. An I love the concept but it doesn't mix with my constitution.

Just "Go Green"! Why risk it? I got very sick after riding the orange version (the rest of the day was shot) but no problems with green. The themeing is great in the ride and not to be missed. I think another thing to consider is the tight quarters of the "cockpit" when the instrument panel is lowered. If you are claustrophobic at all it could be a real problem. You really feel like you're sealed in there! It helps that there is a fan of cool air right on your face. They do start the ride almost immediately after lowering the instument panel, just take a deep breath and try to stay calm. The ride doesn't last that long and you will be glad you did the "green team"!

To add to that, a few "dos" and "don'ts."

DON'T close your eyes at any point.

DO keep your head back on the headrest.

DON'T think "spinning."

DO pretend you're actually in a rocket ship and focus on the simulation.

DON'T ride twice in a row.

Great tips.

I followed all the tips, and had never gotten sick on any ride..ever (I love thrill rides), and I was very sick after riding M:S for first time (I also took dramamine one hour before...I did everything I was supposed to and still got sick :o)

I think you might have psyched yourself out on this one.
