I was wondering if any of you feel Mission: Space is Disney's response to Universal's Spider-man. Do you think Mission: Space will live up to it's hype?:hammer:

I think it will be greater than its hype, but I don't think disney ever really has to respond to Universal. Disney will always come out on top, regardless. This attraction is moreover a response to an overall drop in Epcot's attendance in the past. I think Journey Into Imagination with Figment shows that Imagineers can still think up great rides (I never doubted it, but some did), and the Space Pavillion's insane budget should lead to an incredible ride. Eisner loves it, and I have yet to dislike any attraction that he likes. Disney feels they have a real winner here, so I have to agree.

I think Spider-Man is a great ride, but is Mission Space going to be the same type of ride? I was under the impression that MS was more of a thrill ride.

M:S will be NOTHING like Spiderman...

M:S will be this...

Take the pods from Cyber Space Mountain (at DQ)
Put them on the end of an arm (like a VERY fast Dumbo)

Nuff said :)

Sounds easy...but you will feel the G forces that astronauts feel during liftoff, the weightlessness of space, and the re-entering of the earth's atmosphere, as well as the shuttle landing.

Spiderman is a bunch of off-the-shelf technology thrown together to make 1 AMAZING (pardon the pun) attraction

M:S is ALL NEW TECHNOLOGY!

Thanks, I haven't talked to my friend much about MS lately, so I didn't know if things had changed. :)

Well, you should get together with your friend tonight to discuss this type of stuff...

My friend and I used to get together everyday to talk about Disney, cause we are both fanatics, but it seems that we have very distant to each other in the last couple of months. I wish things could be the way they used to be, cause no one will ever understand my Disney quirks like my friend!!!!

I agree...IOA is a state of the art park.

But, so WAS the MK in it's day...(a little outdated now but far superior than any other park nonDisney park in the entire world)
