We road the ride the next day after the incident, my boys 17 and 14 loved it, my wife got a little upset in the belly but a cold drink of water afterwards cleared it right up, myself I was moving my head and looking around the capsul during the ride and got a little dizzy (my fault). Other than that I would go on it again in a heart beat.
So there seems to absolutely nothing wrong with the ride. :)

No I don't think there is anything wrong with the ride. Parents need to use some common sense as to what their kids do. But common sense is very lacking in todays society.

The problem is that there is no way for Disney to know how old a child is.
The easiest way is to restrict the ride to "adults" - that is those who are 10 and over and get charged full price for ticket admission - that said, there is nothing in place to stop an 8 or 9 year old borrowing an adults ticket. Photo ID for all admissions would prevent this but think about the logistical nightmare of park admission and how long it would take everyone to obtain a photo ID when they first entered a park
The over riding factor here is common sense. Parents / guardians should be made aware of the intensity of the ride and a suggested age limit should be imposed.
