How close does the capsule screen and everything come in during the ride?

I had a dream last night that I was basically pinned underneath it all and freaked out.

It is close to your face, but not that close....you have a good 6 or 8 inches..

You seem to be a little freaked about this ride.

You have no idea. Can't wait for it (4 weeks), but also 99% sure I'll be sick as a dog afterwards.

BTW, love the avatar!

Also remember to breathe.

I forgot for awhile :hammer:

If you're worried about motion sickness, would suggest taking Dramamine about 30 minutes before going on. I don't do well with motion sickness but had no problem at all with the ride.

Yeah, I'd say more like a foot in front of you. Afterall, you have to have room to reach out and push your buttons and fiddle with that spastic joystick. :p

Disney2002, you go to Columbia? Do you live in the area? If so, we're neighbors :D

I've ridden it twice on two separate trips and this last time I did notice a closed in, claustrophobic feeling.
I would have to think people have gotten in, had it lower down and lost it. I'm guessing the workers monitor this? They wouldn't just leave someone in there for the whole ride in a claustrophobic panic, or would they?

Does that apply for the entire ride, liftoff, or what?
(Man, I can hardly wait to ride that thing! 148 days to go)

Finished up just yesterday afternoon, actually. So, we'll be neighbors until Wednesday. Then I move down to midtown where Hairspray will be my new neighbor.

As for the photos, looks like more than a foot, fortunately.

The capsules are not monitored once the door is closed. Its like a rollercoaster, once it begins there is no stopping or getting out.

plenty of room

There's really plenty of room, and as long as you're expecting it, it should not be a problem. The seat is pretty comfy, and there's a good flow of fresh air, so you should be just fine. As far as being sick after, I doubt there's any way to predict for sure, except that if you don't follow the suggestions (look at screen) you're more likely to have trouble.

Not to challenge the word of the master account, but there have been numerous posts saying that they are indeed monitored. I'd like to get the official word from someone working the attraction since there has been so much contradiction.

You have had it already. There are people who have already answered this question on this forum(besides me) who are far more official than any CM working the attraction. ;) The contradiction is coming from people who do not know, and are just assuming they are monitored. The reality is they are not monitored by video or audio inside the actual capsule. The ride bays are monitored, but not individual capsule interiors.
