Mini Magic Kingdom 1/2 Day

I'm going down to Orlando to visit my best man in my wedding, and I'm going to get a half day in MK! Anyone have experience with doing a late day at MK? I'll be in the park by 2:30 and it's open til 8. I know that doesn't give me a lot of time, and since I'm being swipped in by a cast member friend I won't have access to fastpass+ before I get in the park. Should I try to map out a plan or just wing it and enjoy my 5 hours in the park?

If it's closing at 8 pm, I wouldn't expect it to be a crowded day. In fact, I would expect it to be quite the opposite. You might be surprised at what you can get done on a non crowded day. I wouldn't worry too much about planning. When are you going (this month? next month)?

My only suggestion would be to hit 7DMT right at closing. Those FP+s go quickly and the line is pretty much always long. Or if you're not set on riding that and haven't been able to hit Space Mountain or another one, you can hit that right at closing too.

I know what I would do if I had a half day like that.

I would take the train to Storybook Circus and ride Dumbo and work my way back through Fantasyland. Then I would spend the evening in Tomorrowland because I love it at night, leaving time to stroll back down Main Street and check out the shops on the way out.

Sorry I forgot to mention that lol. I'm going next week so it'll be right after marathon weekend. I'm expecting it to not be crowded at all. I would like to ride 7DMT but if i miss it, oh well. I know I'm not going to wait in line for it. I've heard it's super short and not worth a long wait. I'm excited to see New Fantasyland because I haven't been since that opened.

You seem to have a good attitude towards rides (I haven't ridden 7DMT either, and it doesn't bother me in the least) so I would say just "wing it." I would recommend getting the official Disney app for your phone- it can give you real time info on waits across the park. With the amount of time you have, you don't want waste it on long lines.

I think I would tour MK the same way I would tour for a trip for MNSSHP or MVMCP.
On our last MNSSP we rode 7DMT 6 times! (Rode during parade but not fireworks)
Don't listen to the nay sayers- 7DMT is awesome! We wanted to ride again and again. We also rode just about every other ride in MK. We only missed the least popular - Counrty Bears, Hall of Presidents and the like.
But that's all what I would do. :-)
My only real piece of advice is don't go hungry! Unless there's some food item I just *have* to have I am always bitter about the time I waste eating when I could be on a ride. :-)

It sounds like you have the unique opportunity to wing it and wander and truly relax. With low crowds, I don't think you'll need FP.

Yeah I already have the Disney app for wait times. Being a former CP Cast Member, I love when I can go, and this is the first time in 5 years!! The only food I plan on eating is a burger from pecos bill's because I can't refuse that goodness, and a cookie during wishes from sleepy hollow, because again, amazing! If I miss some rides, oh well. I'm just gonna enjoy the 5 hours I get :)
