Mini Golf: Preferences?

While on our trip in April, I am going to take my daughter, niece, and nephew to play mini golf one night. I'm trying to decide between Fantasia Gardens and Winter Summerland. I also seem to recall a pirate themed mini golf place close to Downtown Disney. Have any of you played this courses? If so, which one did you prefer? The ages of the kids I'm taking are 6 and 8. Thanks in advance for comments.:)

The winter summerland course was more fun than the Fantasia course. At the winter summerland course watch out for the spitting fish.

Are you set on staying on property, or close to property? (as in the case of the Pirate themed one you mentioned. Pirates Cove, I believe)

Because if you venture off property, you'll find several others. We've stayed in Kissimmee every time. This April will be our first on property stay. But, staying in Kissimmee, we've seen several, and played at a couple. There is Pirates Island in Kissimmee next door to Medieval Times and Walmart. We love that one and make a point to play there every time. Then, there is River Adventure, which didn't really catch our interest. There is also Congo River Golf, which we really enjoyed. Those are all in Kissimmee on Vine St/192/Bronson Memorial Highway. I also recall seeing one on I-4 or 535 or 536...one of those roads in the Orlando area going toward WDW, which was a Hawaiin Volcano theme. That one looked pretty cool as well. Then there is another Pirates' Cove one right off I-4 coming into the area.

We liked the Winter Summerland. We went on a Saturday afternoon the week before Christmas when the parks were very crowded and the mini golf was not crowded at all.

I have played both Disney courses and the Pirates Cove course and I think you'd have a good time at pretty much any of them. The design and theme of each is so different that I think you'd enjoy them all. I think children might enjoy winter/summerland a little more. It has been a while since i've played any of them but I remember winter/summerland being a little easier and if your children haven't seen Fantasia then the theming of Fantasia Gardesn will be lost on them.

Our experience has been that the Winter side of WinterSummerland (there are two courses there) is the best for kids. I don't know whether this is true or not, but it seems to be a little easier to get a good score on that one - when we last played it, it seemed that more of the holes sloped downward to the cup, so that even a shot that was off-line seemed to find its way in (our 8-year-old niece had 4 holes-in-one!).

Mini Golf at a Disney "course" is 50% off with an AP. That usually sways my decision.

The traditional putt putt courses are very fun because each hole is ingenious with its theming and design. Winter/Summer are practically the same except for the seasonal theming. They are both fun if you like seeing Santa, Elves, and Christmas stuff all year long.

The Fantasia course has three or four holes designed based on each song from Fantasia complete with said music in the background.

The Fairways course is HARD. They say it's the longest mini golf course in the country. I dare say I needed a driver for more than one hole. I'd say it's definitely not a place for little kids.

Hope this helps.

Thanks to all for the responses and advice. We will be staying on-site but we will also have a car. Given what's been said on here, I think I'm leaning toward Winter Summerland. Thanks again.
