Military tickets at a sold out party?

How does this work? Does the member need to walk through gates with you?

I'm there the same time as my dad who is retired military. They already bought their tickets regular price( don't tell mom she'd get ticked)but we still need to get ours.

The party is sold out so I know he needs to purchase the day of at the gates of MK. Is it really that simple of a process? We will already be there but I'm worried he'll show up while we are at are ADR. Is is something he can bring in to us when we meet up and we go back and activate later or do we all need to go back out together?

I can't find much info on this out there.

I'm not sure how it works for parties, but I know with park tickets we all had to be with my sister-in-law when she activated them. I suspect it would be the same for party tickets. Good luck!

Last year for MVMCP I actually asked about military tickets and was told that military prices are only good for certain dates. IF they're available and your Dad can get them, he can get them at Shades of Green.

Once the party is sold out you can only get tickets at the gate of MK. Military price is available for our date.

The military rate for MVMCP applies only for November 7, 10, 13, 14, 16 & 20, 2014. Tickets can be purchased at guest services (like at DTD) or if you get them at Shades of Green tax free.
The tickets you get are the official party ticket, so your group does not have to be together to get into the park/party.
If the party is sold out, there are an undisclosed number of tickets held back to be purchased at MK the day of the party. Ticketing said that number available is secret, sooo... best to go early in the day to improve your chances.

I should also mention, I always have unexpired passes on me (never know when you'll get a random trip to Orlando), but sometimes I don't get there for several years, so they're usually old. When I bought my pass for MVMCP last year, what I got was a ticket vs. having a magic band. That got me in the gate, then I was issued the usual Tyvek wrist band. The day I was there, there weren't any military rates available. However, as NEmickeyfan said, basically you're saving the tax. I have also purchased the military rate at Guest Services before.
