I have a feeling that Steven will be getting an email from whoever manages the DoD discount program in Burbank.

I live on an Army Post and still call them for my tickets!! They are the nicest and most helpful government employees I have ever come across!

I wonder if different locations work differently. The base I work out of in Southern MD, if I recall used to be only MIL, but now they're at least DOD contractor too. Can't speak to general public as I haven't tried as such. The base opened more of the options up to the DOD contractor's since they make up such a large percentage of the workforce for the base. I've bought stuff from them before, I think it was Disneyland tickets though as I had a pass (or maybe I did do WDW pre-pass). Whenever I do the workup of WDW pricing for someone, they always come out ahead.
ETA: what I can purchase is just discounted tickets, they are not he military/salute special ones; they're just base, hoppers, + for X number of days. Difference from buying from another 3rd party or Disney seems to be they aren't date based, but they do expire by a certain date (currently 17 Dec 2022) and seem to have a blackout around Christmas/NYE. Standard good for 14 days from first use still applies.

Maybe they sell regular tickets too, with a small discount. Or maybe it means they can sell the tickets without needing military Id.
But if what you are buying are discounted tickets for military personnel (as defined above which was lifted from their website) , then you won’t be able to use them unless you have valid matching military id.

My DH is retired US Army. We purchased our Salute to the Military tickets through the MWR at Ft. Bragg; however, we did it online. They have on their website a form to be completed along with your CC payment. You must include military ID# on the form which is proof of status. When we have our tickets activated at Disney Springs and attached to our magic bands we MUST SHOW ID. We are limited to 6 tickets/year. Our 5 day park hoppers cost $315 each. The discount is considerable, unlike the tickets being discussed above which have a discount ranging from 4-8%.
When we purchase through Seymour Johnson AFB my husband is required to go into the office on base and handle the transaction, with proof of his military status. Not sure if this is due to retirement from a different branch of military service.

Hello everyone. I wanted to clear up come of the confusion about military discounted tickets. Also please fell free to reach out if you have any questions I will try my best.
Yes you must have a valid military ID to purchase any type of military discounted tickets.
While different ticket promotions require different IDs here is the base line to purchase tickets at Shades of Green.
Active Duty, Cadets of Armed Forces Academies, Reserve and National Guard; Retired from Active Duty, Reserves, and National Guard, Family members with current ID, current and retired Department of Defense and Coast Guard Civilian employees all with valid DOD ID.
Veterans with a Veterans Health Identification Card (VHIC):
All veterans with a service-connected disability, Former POW, Purple Heart recipients, and Medal of Honor recipients with a Veterans Health Identification Card issued by the Veterans Affairs Office are eligible to purchase our discounted and tax-free tickets. (Promotional Tickets not eligible under this identification card per Theme Park Contracts) Paperwork is not accepted; you must have the physical identification card issued to you.
Dependents:
A dependent spouse is eligible to purchase tickets using a current identification card. Child dependents are eligible to purchase tickets or their legal guardian as long as the child is present and the identification card is current. Child dependents and former spouses with benefits do not qualify for the promotional tickets but may purchase any other discounted and tax-free tickets. Deceased with Benefits (DB)/Widow, become the sponsor, therefore are/is eligible for the promotional tickets.
All of the above may purchase tickets they qualify for anytime.
Veterans with a DD214: (Shades of Green Only)
If you do not fall in any of the above and are using your discharge papers (DD214) showing honorable discharge, you may purchase the discounted and tax-free tickets in person during January & September.
Now with the Magic You Way military tickets. Anyone may use use the ticket once its purchased, but the ticket must be purchase by someone with a valid military ID would have to purchase the tickets.
The Shades of Green Ticket office is more then happy to assist any military family with tickets. We do answer the phones and I do apologize if anyone had had a long wait on the phone. It's a big military and we handle a lot of calls every day. We are open 7 days a week from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. You can find current ticket information on the shadesofgreen.org website. Here you may also find contact information.
I also want to mention the two contacts in this form from the other MWR offices do not work at the Shades of Green and we are sorry about the incorrect information being given out.

This will depend on your ID.
If you just have your DD214 you may purchase Magic Your Way discounted tickets during the months of January and September.
If you have a VA medical ID showing "Service Connected" on the ID under your photo you may purchase Magic Your Way discounted tickets anytime.
If you reach 100% Service Connected and go to a DEERS Office to get your Uniform Services ID. Then with your Uniform Services ID you may purchase all tickets including promotional.
Also worth mentioning Shades of Green offers more then just Disney tickets.

Understood....my father in law is 100% disabled Navy Veteran, but he wouldn't want to spend 5 or 6 days in the parks, so I was looking at other options....that's when the base said their regular discounted tickets are available to everyone. Ends up being almost $100 less per ticket for a 6 day pass...I'd save $500 as a family of 5.
