Might not see new attractions until 2018-20? Wall Street wants to scale back park investment?

You mean some random unfounded rumor based on rampant speculation that hasnt even been hinted at by any of our insiders, letalone reach the proposal part and committed to death?

What about it?

I am betting it has something to do with Imagination. Star Wars phase 1 is rumored to open in Disneyland according to Miceage Spring 2015, and I'm sure the same will hold for Hollywood Studios to coincide with Ep 7.

I don't deal in rumors and internet based speculation.

Based on this company's history with capital investments in the past 10 years, they're going to be loathe to spend anything after the MM+ disaster.

According to my insiders, nothing is happening with a DHS Star Wars expansion. Meaning its likely stuck in committee/bureaucracy.

I think theyre just going to close it.
God, I hope not.

I may be the only one, but I like the Figment ride. Could live 100 more years without any EO, though. Always hoping for something new or at least a return to HISTA.

Otherwise, they don't need new stuff. Avatarland is a terrible idea. Star Wars...I don't know, there. Doesn't sound great, though. And they'd screw it up, anyway, making it all shopping, dining and M&Gs.

They need to just fix what they have and bring back all the extra stuff they cut that made the parks so great.

At this point, I don't see why anyone is surprised that WDW won't have anything new (outside of Snow White's coaster) until at least 2017. I mean, seriously! At the pace they go, if it's going to open 2017, they would have to be building it now. See anything getting built?

Looks like we won't get a Carsland, don't know why anyone thinks we will get a "Soaring around the world" (it's not even needed), we might get something or other based on Star Wars but probably not before 2019, and we'll all probably be dead before Avatarland opens.

Al Lutz said on Tuesday that Disneyland's Star Tours is getting updated with new destinations in 2015 based off of Star Wars VII coming out that summer. I'm sure those Disneyland updates will also apply to the DHS Star Tours. That's something.

that's true, it is "something." And it's better than a stick in your eye, as my grandma used to say, may she rest in peace.

I think many of you will be surprised in the next 5-10 years

I'm sure many will bash that and say that's not good enough, but whether we like it or not they are still running a business and not building their theme parks specifically for us complainers on wdwmagic

Wall St doesn't shy from CAPEX but rather from overvalued CAPEX. The share price is ticking upward and that's because so far Wall St likes the direction financially. They perceive the investments as good ones. If Jim Cramer or any of these loud mouths say otherwise it doesn't matter because they are insignificant in the markets. Institutional investors are where the real opinions lie and they are seemingly happy with one exception (that pension fund that tried to oust Iger).

Al Lutz reported that the Star Wars expansion to DL's Tomorrowland (Star Tours upgrade, 3D show in the current Captain Eo bldg, speeder bike coaster) is happening and that it would be copied in DHS. He seems pretty secure in that and has good sources. Do you think that only DL is approved and DHS is still in the air?

I think theyre just going to close it.

Martin and others said a makeover is coming, so I think its more than just closing and doing nothing. But the question is how long will it take, it could close in January and be who knows how many years for them to take to do it. :banghead: And Its taking how many years now for mine train and shoehorning in fairytale hall? Horrible.

I can remember Al Lutz also said that construction on Carsland at DHS would be imminent, with an opening in thanksgiving 2015, see: http://micechat.com/21154-hello/

For quite a while, that was indeed the likely plan.
Then....change. Can't say it's surprising.

I'm hearing not. Way I hear it, the Studios Star Wars additions will be further out with construction not even starting for quite a while. Possibly not opening until 2017-18.

But again, all of this is still awaiting final approval and could all change.

That would be disappointing. I would hope the indoor Jedi show, new restaurant, and new scenes for Star Tours would be ready before then.
