mid to end of Sept. trip

We are looking to try and plan an anniversary trip this fall. We have never been to WDW in the fall before (usually spring, once in August) let alone by ourselves ::eek:. Also hoping to maybe get in on the free dining if they offer it again this year. My question is, what has been everyone's experiences with the weather? We are thinking 9/22 or 9/29 for a three night stay. I know is can still be pretty warm then, but are we getting far enough out from hurricane season there. I know there is always and chance and last year was pretty light, but has anyone gone in that time frame and had any really issues. With our most recent luck with the weather at the world, we are getting use to the all day rains when we are there (our last two trips is literally rained everyday we were in the parks (all day). What about crowds that time frame as well?

Thanks for any advice. Hope we can pull it together:D

I went mid Sept in 08 and it was 90 and sunny 6 out of the 7 days. Saw clouds 1 day. Its still very hot. Hurricane Ike was about a week before we left but I kept track of all the hurricane's and tropical storms that whole month. I think in all the years Disney has been open it has only had to close once from a hurricane. I just booked my sept 18-26 trip.

We have been going in September every year since '97 and love it! The weather is still hot but not like July or August. The only time hurricane season has affected our travels is the year that Florida was hit with one hurricane after another.......I can't remember what year that was but we had to reschedule for October that year. Even with the free dining offer the crowd level is still significantly lighter than spring & summer. In the years that we've been able to squeeze in 2 trips to the World we've gone in Feb, March, April, May, June, October & Dec. Our favorite time remains September. One thing though.....you mentioned hoping for the free dining offer......it's normally released in April but I am almost certain it requires a stay of at least 5 nights. HTH! You will love WDW in Sept! We're already booked for Sept 17-24th!!!!

What this poster said about September 08 :)

We went around the same time I guess, because we had just about the same weather! We saw a few thunderstorms off in the distance on one or two afternoons - one evening we got about 15 minutes of light rain, Otherwise it rained once or twice overnight, but the rest of our trip it was hot, humid and sunny - 90 degrees or there abouts.

We absolutely love WDW this time of year. We've had great luck with weather these past few years, only being rained on once or twice in about three years. It is still very warm (ok, hot) but with the much lower crowds, its really quite nice. We really enjoy this time of year much more than say late April or May because it seemed to rain more and the crowds were alot worse. Enjoy!

We went last year from 9/26 thru 10/1 and I adored it. As others have said, our wait times were very light. I think our longest wait the whole week was 30 minutes for Kilamanjaro Safari. Most everything was in the 10-15 minute range. We only had rain one day and it ended by early afternoon. Other than that, it was blue skies and lots of sun. But it was also very humid and in the low to mid 90's all week.

The decorations for fall are also superb. Especially at MK. Hope you have a wonderful trip.
