Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party???

I've got a long way to go, but trying to decide now if it's worth the price of admission for our family. Our kids will be 2 and 4 at the time of our trip and we're planning on MK 3 days during our trip, so rides aren't a big factor for us. So, is the parade, snow, cocoa, cookies, and fireworks worth it? In my 7 trips to WDW I have NEVER seen fireworks in the MK  and based on the Dec schedule- MVMCP is going to be our only chance. I understand that we could sit on the beach of the Poly and watch, but I don't know if it would have the same impact. Any thoughts?

You`ve never seen MK fireworks? Holiday Wishes is a great show to see inside the park (somehwere near the hub) - far better than being on the Poly beach.

Indeed, MVMCP is a great night. Even better not spent riding attractions as you plan. If you have the chance, go for it. It`s well worth it.

This is the first time I've ever been at Christmas time and we are definitely going to go to the party!! I can't believe you've never seen MK fireworks...Wishes is the best...they're my fave! :) We saw Halloween wishes when we were there a few years ago, but this will be my first Holiday Wishes (I think I'm getting all the names right...) and I can't wait!! I hope you decide on the party, I think it will be well worth it! When are you going?

As a kid, my family had a long history of cutting out of the parks early to beat the mass crowd exiting the parks. It wasn't until my dad saw Illuminations from our hotel balcony that he made the exception for Epcot. I think the one night we convinced my dad to stay late in MK is the one time I saw the Electric Light Parade (at least I think that's what it was- it was in the 80s).

As of right now, Holiday Wishes isn't being offered at any point in the week we'll be at Disney. We'll get Spectromagic one of the nights, but I think MVMCP may be our only chance at fireworks in MK.

I've heard MNSSHP is worth every penny. If we do MVMCP I'm thinking Dec 12th. I've got a series of surprises for my fam during the course of this trip, and this would be a nice surprise for our last night at WDW. Of course I'll probably hear "I thought we weren't going to do this" from DH, but all the holiday festivities should have him singing a different tune before long. :xmas:

So, your kids are 2 and 4? Is this their first trip? When was the last time that you went? Yes, many questions! LOL

The girls will be 2 and 4 at the time of this trip...and yes, it's their first time. Trying to make it as magical as possible for them since this may be the only time we'll ever go in Dec while they're young. :king: DH and I have not been to WDW since 1998. We kept saying we wanted to go back for a big trip, but we had a handful of non-Disney trips that we opted for over the years. Funny how several were Disney inspired.

My boys will be 5 and 10 months when we go in Dec. This is my oldest son's 4th trip. He was 18 months on his first trip and he loved it! I used to think I would never take my kids out of school for a vacation, but that's exactly what I'll be doing when we go :) I'd rather do that than take him in june when its hot and crowded! Y'all are going to have a great time....a lot has changed since u last went! And it will also be a completely different experience with ur babies going! I say do the party, especially since you want to make it a big trip with lots of suprises and excitement :)

I would say do it and have fun. I went to it for the first time last year and enjoyed it. The party runs from 7pm to midnight, but you are able to enter the park with the MVMCP ticket as early as 4pm. This will give you a chance to ride a few rides before the party starts. The parade usually runs twice and when I went last year the best viewing place for the fireworks I found was right in front of the Crystal Palace as it was less crowded.

Ive been twice to MVMCP, its amazing everything from character greetings is holiday costumes to the snow machines on main street, the light show on the castle is magical and really sets the mood for the holiday season. another positive is alot of the rides are open with little or no Que's. i have to say their hot choc is my fave in the whole world just cant match it at home.

My advice is to GO GO GO.

My wife and I have been twice (and I know I'm throwing water on the excitement) but we won't this year. I think MVMCP is over rated but...
for the little ones first experience, it could be a good thing. Althought we
will be there Dec. 5-12, no MVMCP this trip. I love MNSSHP better!!!

At that age I would definitely take them. Between the parades, fireworks, snow and holiday atmosphere, they'll have a blast.

Thanks everyone! I think my arm has officially been twisted :ROFLOL:but just to be sure, I'm going to give myself a day or 2 to think on it...but I'm sure a call to my travel agent on Tuesday would sure cheer me up, as long as the boss isn't watching :lookaroun

I think everyone should experience MVMCP at least once. DH and I enjoyed the both times. The show(s) are cute, the fireworks show is amazing, the parade is adorable, and the free cocoa/hot cider and cookies aren't bad either. The lines to meet characters dressed in Christmas clothing is very long. An average time we saw was an hour!!! I think your family would enjoy MVMCP.

As a former cast member who has been there at holiday time (and I am so jealous of you right now!), you totally SHOULD get tickets for MVMCP! It's so much fun, especially when it "snows" along Main Street and you get to see all the characters in their holiday best.

I think the kids will really enjoy it. We went last year and had a great time. As an adult I enjoyed it, but I like the MNSSHP a lot better. The kids loved the 'snow' and it was very worth the ticket price for us.

We're going 11/27-12/5/10 and was wondering if Holiday Wishes and the Christmas Parade are only available during MVMCP while we're there. It looks like starting 12/20 it becomes a regular thing each night.

All I can say is watch Samantha Brown's Disney Christmas Special on the Travel Channel. It comes out every time during the holidays, or you can perhaps find it on YouTube.

We saw it just before last Christmas and that's when we decided we NEED to go to WDW at least once during the holidays to experience it, especially Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. It looked so wonderful on her special- I can only imagine it in person!
