Mickey's Studio Tour

Some time ago, when it was rumored that the Great Movie Ride would be replaced by a ride themed to Mickey Mouse, it was rumored that the ride might actually be a revival of an old concept, Mickey's Studio Tour (even though it didn't turn out that way), for which they produced a special webpage here at Kingdom of Memories: http://kingdomofmemories.com/ward-kimball-and-the-mystery-of-mickeys-studio-tour/.

One of the pieces showed that was intended for the Magic Kingdom (dated 1984):

I have several questions based on this, but the first one is had this had gone in the Magic Kingdom (I don't believe they were thinking of a third park at that time, much less a Studios-based one), where do you think it would have gone?

Mickey's Birthdayland did not open until 1988, so maybe not... But Fantasyland would be a good guesstimate!

Except I'm not sure how appropriate Fantasyland would be for something like this, or that they had the space for it. Maybe that would've gone over in the Speedway area that ultimately got replaced by Mickey's Birthdayland, but even so, it would be a forced thematic, if not physical, fit.

Wow--I never knew this idea was in the works...even if it was eventually trashed. Too bad. Looking at the article you attached 'Mickey's Studio Tour' seems like it would have fit perfectly in
Hollywood Studios. 'Honoring' Mickey with a ride through his career would have been a nice nostaligic/historic/appropriate addition. I'm not sure about the whole Star Wars empire that is being built there...

Thanks for the info., I enjoyed learning about this idea gone bad (dead!).

In a logical sense... Does Mickey's Philharmagic fit in Fantasyland?

Not trying to one-up. I just think they could've easily made it work, with this logic at least.

Another question I have is does anyone know how the sequence of events would have been set up? All I know is that these scenes would apparently have been the end of the ride (you can read them on the site above):
  • Make-Up (with villains)
  • Chamber of Horrors
  • Fire Scene (with a drop from the skull mouth the previous scene)
  • Mouse Factory (with a drop from the fire scene)
In my opinion, the Mouse Factory scene is an odd way to end the ride (it clearly displays the word "Unload" at one end of the sketch). I also would like to know where the Screening Room would take place.
