Mickey's Philharmagic Opening Date?

Anybody know when the projected opening is for Mickey's Philharmagic? With all of the emphasis on Mission:Space, as the father of small children I am equally looking forward to the opening of this attraction. Thanks. We are kicking around the idea of a late March 2003 trip.

Unless I've missed some announcements (which is entirely possible), Disney is still giving an opening date of Fall 2003. There has been some speculation in past threads that it might be earlier, maybe by June, but there has not been much posted lately with any revised opening dates. Some have reported that the film is completed, that all that is left is finishing the inside, and coordinating the "sensory" effects with the film.

With Disney giving an opening timeframe of Fall 2003, March doesn't seem very likely. If it were to open more towards the spring, hopefully it doesn't mean they are cutting even more effects.

Mickey's Philharmagic will replace The Lion King in MK. It will be a "3-D" film, with added "sensory" effects to interact with the film (similar to It's Tough to be a Bug in AK). Also, Steve has a link at the top of the forum page with update information.

Incidentally, both M:S and Philarmagic are given tentative opening days in late (Fall) 2003 (M:S being given that by the Birnbaum's WDW 2003 guidebook...)

Given "Late"/Fall 2003, a good bet of either one of those attractions being (soft) open, at least, is late summer, late August, early Sept, etc...

I've talked to someone on the project and they are saying that it looks like an early September opening is most likely. No word yet on Mission:Space.

Philharmagic was supposed to open in the summer of 2003 however, the openng has been postponed until the fall. Mission:SPACE's opening has been posponed too. I don't know a date or even range of time for M:S.

Let's hope this doesn't turn into Test Track style late openings!:lol: :brick: :drevil:

I was at Epcot mid-November and I went to the Mission: SPACE site and a guy saying info on the ride said that its' construction was on-schedule. In the cast newsletter, it said opening for M:S was projected in Summer 2003. As for PhilharMagic, Disney Magazine said that opening is targeted for Fall 2003.

According to Walt Disney Imagineering, the opening of Mickey's Philharmagic has been delayed later than fall of 2003. Expect an opening more likely in Winter 2003-Early 2004.

It's gonna be a 3D movie, like Muppets or It's Tough to Be a Bug, with Donald walking around looking for Mickey and going through all kinds of Disney animated movies. So there could be animatronics much like there are in Muppets and Bug.


On a related note, doesn't Phillarmagic seems awfully similar to the future CGI featyre "The Search for Mickey Mouse"?

Both attractions should be open by the fall/winter holidays, but to be safe, we just pushed back our next Disney World vacation to March 2004...don't wanna get screwed (of course, because of that, we decided to lengthen our Disneyland vacation in 70 days and add a Las Vegas trip for Thanksgiving )

You haven't heard about the new Mickey show yet?? It has been set to open maybe sometime this summer of 2003. It is a brand new "show" that has replaced the lion king show that was originally there. It is suppose to be pretty awsome with some cool effects and awsome story that goes with it. It is in the Magic Kingdom right by the "winnie the pooh" and "Peter Pan" attractions in Fantasy Land. That is all I know at the moment.

Hey!
I can't wait till Mission Space opens either but I would'nt recomend that attraction for your kids if they are really small or affraid of the TOT or RNR. The Mission Space attraction is going to be put on the same scale as the Tower of Terror and the Rock'n Roller Coaster. But hey, if your kids arn't scared of either of them, than let um' at it! I can't wait!!

I think that he was asking about philharmagic...not TOT or M:S.

I'm not sure an official date has been set yet...does that help? I know..probably not.:animwink:

um..... that mickey magic show will not be ready till liek fall of 2003. Everything is on track but you never know?? Especially with the new opening of Mission Space. I can't wait!!
