Does anyone remember the show that used to be in that theater in the 70's... I have early memories of small auto-animatronic figures of the Mickey Mouse Orchestra and a show they did based on the silly symphonies... I cant remember much about it, except that Mickey was the conductor... Philarmagic to me has always just been a modern version of that origional attraction.... if any one knows more about that old show, please share it with me...
That was called Mickey Mouse Review and it played there for quite some time. It is now in Tokyo Disneyland and plays several times daily there. Philharmagic has a bigger storyline than that, but is essentially the same story foundation.

After that, the theatre was home to Magic Journeys a 3D show imported from Epcot (where it was replaced by Captian EO). After Magic Journeys, it became Legend of the Lion King, and finally into Philharmagic.

Okay I don't know if anything has been said but does anyone think that for Philarmagic being as new as it is there aren't very long lines. Yet almost every show is packed. I know that there is a very large qeue but I just wondered if anyone had heard rumors about it being replaced. I hope not it is one of my favorites.
Thanks
:D

Where would you come up with that? Just out of the blue?
I have not heard anyone saying that show was not good, jsut the opposite.

Donald duck gets thrown into many of the disney movies like peter pan, aladdin, lion king, little mermaid, etc.....something you have to see to appreciate.
it is very well done.

Am i the only one who doesn't thing this attraction is all that good? The 3d is very good but it should be because it is so new. Other than that i thought the movie was lacking.

You're not alone. I wasn't impressed with the 3-D, and the story is - for a Disney attraction - surprisingly weak. It actually reminds me a lot of the Mickey Mouse Revue, except that it tends to focus more on the modern Disney films, and has a VERY small plot about Donald losing Mickey's hat. It seemed too short, and as someone else pointed out, the queue was beyond boring. It's fine for what it is, but after all the hype surrounding it I was completely nonplussed.
Muppetvision and It's Tough to Be a Bug both blow Philharmagic out of the water. I certainly don't see it going away anytime soon, though, as it does have one thing going for it - relative timelessness. Disney characters, classic Disney songs, and no references to time or place. This is where Honey, I Shrunk the Audience gets into trouble because everyone has dated hairdos and clothing, and there are no songs to stick with you long after you've left.
Since others are ranking their favorite 3-D films:
1. Muppetvision
2. It's Tough to Be a Bug
3. Captain EO (Gone; never forgotten)
4. Mickey's Philharmagic
5. Honey, I Shrunk the Audience
6. Magic Journeys (great song, but it also suffered from a serious lack of plot)

For a new show, I was quite surprised by the lack of a line. In all the times we saw it we got straight into the theatre on all but one occasion

Im a huge fan of MP, yes the story is a little thin, but i still love it, probably cos im a big Donald fan.

God yeah Captain EO, amazing 3D film, shame it got pulled. Was this because of the Michael Jackson allegations anybody?

I think Mickey's Philharmagic is the best 3D show in WDW. The Muppets are awesome but the film needs some TLC. It is showing signs of ages and needs a rehab badly :(

I can assure everyone that during busy times at the park there are long lines that actually go outside the building and wrap through the queue. It's just that the theater holds a lot so although the line gets long it moves very quickly. When I waited to see it one afternoon this past June I stood in line that almost reached the Carousel and probably waited through 2 showings of the film before getting into the theater. Not a bad wait at all. :)
